I did this today while taking rifampin plus. I laid
down-felt very air hungry and it started. It was
almost comical and made me laugh more...Anyone else
ever do this?

It is called hysterical laughter. Hubby had this a few times while doing IV Primaxin. There is actually a certain type of seizure that involves involuntary laughter -- forget what that is called right now.
Just enjoy it.
Unfortunately for hubby when he had his laughing fits they also triggered increased tremors and myoclonus.

- Magnesium should help. Liver support, too.
If it happens again, be sure to sit or lie down so that your body can rest. It's like a hyper neuro excitable state. Enjoy the laughs but be ready if you body just gets exhausted immediately afterward.
Bea, yeah, I've have this a few times, too, sometimes with the same sort of myoclonic seizure activity you describe. -

I have had that laughter when I absolutely cannot stop, no matter how hard I try. Have to remove myself from the situation. I feel like I must be crazy. I can relate, Pinelady!

No I don't need someone to talk to. What do you think a hiccup is? Involuntary spasms.
It was diaphragm spasms and documented in Lyme literature! As it spasmed it forced air out to sort of make a laugh sound.
It probably is messing with nerves that may also have something to do with the rash I have had for
9 months now between my shoulder blades...It is flaring bright red once again. Not sure if the
nervous system kicked in due to the air hunger or it is a combo of this led to that.

yes I have, very unpleasant. I think it is the lyme in the brain. It went away for me. So it will for you if you continue treatment.

I am not sure. I took my meds and felt really bad. Laid down and breathing shot up, pulse shot up, and
tried to control it by going to sleep and it started. At first it scared me, but when I saw it
was not going to hurt-or keep me from breathing-I was ok. And slept. It was only like 10
laughs/diaphragm jumped sending puffs that sounded like a huh laugh. I hope it is the Rifampin hitting it hard.

I had inappropiate laughing about 8 yrs ago. It was when I was at my worst and it popped up out of nowhere.
Good thing I wasn't doing socializing at the time. I wish I could remember what abx treatment I was doing during that period?

I have also experienced inappropriate laughing. It seems to happen when I try to push myself even though I'm completely overwhelmed, stressed, and exhausted. It is extremely embarrassing.
I also cry when I get mad. This reaction only makes me more angry and upset because crying is the last thing that I want to do in that situation. I want to take control and fix it. But the crying is something that I cannot control same as the laughter. It just happens. So frustrating.
For me, I think that it is a brain thing. I get tremors, weakness, and increased neuro symptoms when I'm exhausted.

My mother-in-law with alzheimers gets this too. It comes and goes. She has had the crying issues in the beginning of her disease several years ago with stress when she still had much of her memory...now she exhibits the laughing issues inappropriately.

I've had inappropriate laughter, too. It doesn't sound like my regular laugh. It sounds creepy and demonic.

Had the spasms today---sitting up.
It did not make noise sitting up. Feels so weird. It has to be the rifampin.
