I have read about certain essential oils being really good at repelling ticks BUT I have read that essential oils can be dangerous to cats and I have a cat.

I have read some conflicting things. Some say that essential oils shouldn't even be used around a cat and others say that they can but just not on the cat. Does anyone know anything about this?

The ticks are really out now where I live. My dog has already had 3 ticks on her...one embedded and two crawling on her fur. I found a 4th crawling on my living room floor yesterday. I am freaking out about all of these ticks.

I am trying to find a way to keep them away from my dog. I already use Front Line Plus on my dog but that doesn't repel them...just kills them if they bite into her. So I would like to know if I can safely use essential oils on my dog without it being a danger to my cat.

Thanks!
Pam :-)

i am not an expert on essential oils. I was a vet tech for 12 years before i got sick. What I suggest is k9 advantix for your dog. it kills AND repells tick, fleas and mosquitos. It is hands down the best thing you can put on your dog.

For cats the best product available is frontline.

Cats are pretty sensitive. the advantix is toxic to cats when wet, but once dry it is fine.

you can apply it every 3 weeks in heavy tick season.

I personally dont know a thing a bout essential oils but would not rely on that for my dog. just my opinion.
