We use the CA LLND and she is great. She uses Herbs and homeopathic remedies, colloidial silver, etc and will prescribe antibiotics if you want.
She just finished writing her book
The Lyme Diet

I know of two excellent ones. One in the NW corner of Oregon, & one on the coast of Maine. Both are ILADS educated and ILADS members, too. PM me if you want details.

However, don't assume you can't ever take any abx again. With the right overall protocol, that may be possible. Most LLMDs incorporate abx at time if necessary.

No treatment is easy. Even herbal formula have to pack a punch and it's no walk in the park. But, with a good ILADS-educated LL ND, you at least have good guidance.

You might also consider RIFE machine. Do you have Rosner's book?

For future posts, lower case is much easier on they eyes since many here have vision trouble. I could only read the first line and then had to look away. So, I hope my reply makes sense.

It might be good to first read from all authors who incorporate complementary approaches. Also, be sure to read back over Dr. B's guidelines for sense of the mission.

Idesign50,

Sorry, I don't have a list of NDs and I am generally just too tired to deal with PMs, or being the only one contributing to a answer. I work better in a group, in forum mode.

I know the NDs in my state and a couple on the east coast but none in the midwest.

A hint: if you are not tied to a specific location, study and compare the work of the authors included here and take that a step further. Even if you are tied to location - here is a formula, step by step, for how to find an ILADS-educated LL naturopathic doctor.

If you are in northern Illinois, you might be sure to look to Iowa. As I recall, there are a few complementary physicians there and I think one who is LL. I do not have specifics, though.

=============================

http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi/topic/2/13964?

Topic: How to find a LL ND (naturopathic doctor), acupuncturist, etc.

Includes how to find an ILADS-educated LL ND, an Acupuncturist, a doctor of Oriental Medicine (O.M.D.), or a doctor of Ayurvedic Medicine (D.Ay.), certified herbalists or nutritionists, etc.

Also included is a basic link for an association of doctors who practice holistic medicine (MDs, DOs, DCs) and then how to find out if they are ILADS-educated.

Includes many articles and books on complementary / integrative methods - & RIFE links.

BODY WORK links are also included.

Also see alot of great support here for each other. A positive in a bad week.

sewingsowandsew,

Be sure to see the post above yours for HOW to find an ILADS-educated LL ND, etc.

Now, Welcome, but sorry for the need to have found this lifeline.

As for the rheumatologist, if you have just been dx with lyme, I don't know why you are going to see a rheumatologist. Usually, they are of no help. And you need to know that steroids (often prescribed by rheumatologists) can make lyme WORSE, much WORSE.

Also, some MDs insist upon a lumbar puncture (spinal tap) to confirm blood tests. NOT a good test at all. Usually negative as it's NOT a good test but then it is often used to deny treatment.

Even with a positive test, most rheumatologist just don't believe in lyme and most think a very short treatment is enough (99% of the time, it is not).

I would contact your area support groups and ask about this rheumatologist. If not LL, you could be wasting your time and setting yourself up for a long string of medical abusive.

Unless you know that he is truly ILADS-educated, there may be no point in that appointment.

You need to find a ILADS-educated LLMD or an LL ND, but you may more easily find a LLMD. Many also suggests supplements for support, just as most LL NDs insist on antibiotics, along with supplements.

Homeopathic medicine, IMO, is just NOT suited for treating lyme. It can help with symptoms but it will not address the infection adequately. Not at all. Homeopathic medicine is NOT the same as naturopathic medicine, although some NDs are trained in homeopathics. Still, NOT enough.

Exception: possibly, right after a bite, like when still out in the woods, LEDUM homeopathic may be helpful. But I'd sure follow up with other things as soon as I got out of the woods.

Be sure to post other questions in a new thread so that you can get individual attention.

Good luck.
