I want to try IM rocephin. I have been on the IV and worked wonder for me. That was 2 years ago. Now, I can't have a pic because I clot.

How long does the shot last? Is it good for lyme? My doctor only wants me on it three days a week.

Any input would be great!

Yes, many have done rocephin shots. It's not very comfortable but some have done this. Three x a week sounds about right from those I've know to do this.

You might search the archives for past threads regarding Rocephin SHOTS or IM, searching both terms here:

Yes, I've done them. Had great improvement in pain levels but large sore lumps. So sore in fact that I had to eventually stop. Was waking me up at night and made it very hard to sit. Increased depression, fatigue and seemed to lower my immune system. Those symptoms went away after a number of months.

Also search the archives for IM ceftriaxone. Same thing as rocephin, just the generic.

IM Rocephin is not too uncomfortable so long as it is mixed with Lidocaine instead of water.

this is happening to me now. after the 3rd shot, I feel depressed again, and tired. What do you mean went away after a few months? How long did you take the shots for? My rear is already sore. I have only been prescribed 10 shots. I am insisting that my Dr give me more, and he has been pretty compliant, but my insurance co. may not approve more than that, in which case I will pay out of pocket.... what can you tell me about these symptoms of depression and fatigue? Why does the medication do this....? Is it a HERX?

sorry I didn't explain that very well, I meant a few months after I went off the medication. I took the shots for a number of months. I think around 5 with breaks in there of a few weeks.

I don't know why the medication makes some people depressed and fatigued and other people feel better right away. I assumed it was a herx of sorts but I think I read that some people who don't have lyme may also have some of the same symptoms. I don't detox well so it wouldn't be a stretch to think it was a herx.
