I have had red dots on the top of my left foot close to the toes but centered. Now my right foot is developing thesame thing .. I thought about going to a dermatologist to confirm its nothing related to lyme but i suspect there are not many that know about lyme.

it's probably nothing but they have been there for a few months.. Any remote possibility it's something.. If there is a way to post a picture on here I can do that.

Red dots? Heh, both my legs are covered with them. I think it's Bartonella in my case, lots of neuropathy in same areas. Regardless, 99.9% dermatologists will tell you it's nothing and certainly won't attempt to pair it with an actual pathogen (sad).

Red dots are Bartonella? Are you talking pin prick size or bigger?

I have total body red dots. Majority are now brownish dots. But when new ones appear they are bright red, clustered or lined-up and usually on my legs between knees and ankles.

Prick size 17hens. Arms & legs full coverage. Less but still present on back and torso.

I associate it with bart?

I associate it with Bartonella as well. Sometimes my red bumps are close in proximity to red lines or stretch marks which are symptoms of Bartonella. Have you been tested josh?

If they are little, flat red dots, they are called petechiae. They are caused by bleeding under the skin. What I am talking about are flat though, not bumps and are very different than the striae looking rash that is associated with bartonella.

Petechiae are associated with a number of conditions including lupus but for lyme patients, babesia seems to be the main culprit based on what I've read here over the years. The archives will likely uncover more info for you as there have been many discussions about them here at lymenet.

Have you had your LLMD look at them? The red dots that I had on my legs for so long (starting at my feet and stopping at the knees) suddenly developed into larger brown spots. Several of my regular doctors had no idea what it was but my LLMD knew right away that it was hyperpigmentation caused by minocycline. My LLMD took me off mino immediately. It took ~3 years for the hyperpigmentation to fade.

I've been treated for both babesia and bartonella and I just now looked and the petechiae are all gone. The long red bart streaks left during bart treatment except for one small one.

I still seem to have symptoms of bart and babesia and continue treatment for babesia at the moment.

i've got red dots all over my body. most are very teeny but some are the size of a pin or so.

very annoying. even on treatment with biaxin adn flagyl they never went away.

my mom had them adn some of hers were very large, dime size or so. that's why i think she had lyme.

I have the pinpoint red spots all over my body too. They turn brown but start bright red. My LLMD said babesia.

Pam, supposedly other meds can cause it but I'm no expert. Also, systemic diseases such as hemochromatosis, hyperthyroidism, and Addison's disease. I don't know that you have hyperpigmentation but you might want to have someone check it out for you.

It is Chlamydia Pneumonia. Needs to be treated!!

It can be treated easily and will get better, but in the end there is a treatment protocol which is about the same as lyme. It is called the Wheldon Protocol and has to be followed strictly over years.
Minocyclin, flagyl are taken as part of this protocol.
This is the reason why some people get more dots with flagyl and also feel worse in the beginning.

You need to check in the cpnhelp.org
webpage, it is huge.
Start to read the protocol but finally you have to learn the full page.

It is very often together with lyme in the same biofilm.
In my opinion cpn is one of the reasons many people are not getting better with lyme.

Follow the cpnhelp.org page and you will feel better soon.
Pm me if you have questions as I am not always checking the posts.

Karen,
Can I ask why you say it is CPN? I am just curious as i have a cyclical rash on legs between knees and toes. it is tiny red dots, comes and goes, noone really knows what although both LLMDs say "Bart?"
Thanks
Kris

I have no idea what the cyclical rash is.
You can get tested for cpn, but it is the same as lyme testing, does not always show up.

The other possibility is to just treat it and if it is gone it was cpn. In the beginning you get more red dots.
