My husband had Lyme last summer and was on tetracyclene for 4 weeks. He's been having headaches lately and now he's feeling the same feeling of joint pain and fatigue. We can't get into see a Lyme specialist soon so in the interim should he see a regular doctor and get back on antibiotics in the meantime? I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

Do whatever you can to get some doxycycline. Most of us took 400mg per day. Four wks is most often NOT enough.

Can you go to a walk-in clinic.. or maybe two of them if your doctor won't help?

Make an appointment with an LLMD ASAP!

The lyme doc I refer many people to has told people not to start on antibiotics prior to seeing her unless they can remain on the antibiotics until the lyme appointment.

In other words, she doesn't want the patient starting and stopping antibiotics prior to seeing her.

My guess is that this is to avoid making the diseases antibiotic resistant, but that is just my guess.

Chronic lyme disease is not accepted by mainstream Md's, so it would likely be hard to find a doctor that would put him on abx until you get into see an LLMd.

He must be tested for co-infections through Igenex. MOST Ld patients have co-infections, so those need to be treated as well or LD will never resolve.

Lyme grows slowly, getting on abx now until you see an LLMd probably won't make much difference. On the other hand it couldn't hurt if you knew of an Md that would Rx an abx until then.

Please study Tick borne diseases all you can to learn more. The link at the bottom of this post can help and lead to reliable information by clicking "Resources" and other links there.

Take care.
