I had my fourth 1gram IV Rocephin treatment yesterday and woke up with a rash ( some places look hivish)
I'm afraid that when I go for my treatment today that they are going to look at me at not give it.
Isn't this just the toxins leaving my body? I have 24 more treatments to go. Unfortunately my primary care is not on board with my treatment and the Dr. I see is a state away.
I took a Benadryl when I woke in the middle of the night and that helped with the itching. I wasn't even sure if I should do that, but did a search on here and it seemed ok.
Please advise.
Thank you.

Please notify your LLMD. You will need to see a doctor to rule out hives and the possibility of it being an allergic reaction.
Better safe than sorry.

Yes,I agree with Sammy, an allergic reaction can sometimes be serious.

I agree. They do not always show up on the first infusion either. A friend of mine was getting IV antibiotics for MESA and she had an allergic reaction to the antibiotic on day 5 that was a rash all over her body.

I had the same 'hives' with Rocephin. We thought it was the 'lyme' and not an allergy.
Months into it, Vomiting, losing weight and still itching...
Had Drug allergy tests and whaalaa... allergic to it.
Don't mess around with the hives.
You really don't want them to give you any more if you are allergic to it. It just keeps getting worse.

Yep I would not mess around with it. There are so many drugs to try... don't risk your life over it. I too had hives all over my thighs and thought it was just herx. Duh! LOL
