Oh, goody! New problem. Looking for insight. Lots of pain Thurs & Fri, but a bit better this a.m. Actually, abdominal pain started around Tues.

CT scan w/ contrast Fri am found:
- gastric dilation
- very distended stomach
- possible ulcer?
- very constipated
- no cysts/nothing in pelvic area

Directed me to "try to stay out of the ER" and see a gastroenterologist asap Mon a.m.

I'm perimenopausal. Had pain & fullness in lower R quadrant about this time in April as well as May. No menses. Thought this was endometriosis flair, but it's not. Pain & fullness, slight swelling in R groin which radiate down top/inner thigh at times. Unexplained.

Significant nausea would come on before the heavier pain flares.

I've had acid reflux type belching or bad feelings in throat somewhat often in the am since starting Lyrica for fibromyalgia in April. Rheumatologist diagnosed "dry mouth" in April, and I've often had trouble swallowing at mealtime due to dry throat kind of feeling.

My BMs have been regular (two or three every morning before 11 am) except just Friday and now today, no BM. Odd thing: stools have been pale for months, the color of peanut butter.

Been drinking lots of water; I always do. Even more Fri on. Urine is clear, but it was cloudy first urine Thurs am. That's SO rare for me.

Had trouble getting down last of the barium sulfate suspension before CT scan. Actually didn't finish it all. Had been VERY nauseous all morning. Felt horribly carsick in cab to CT. That's SO uncommon for me. Didn't vomit until...

Had allergic rxn to the IV contrast dye? Immediately after CT, three itchy hives appeared (like mosquito bites) on L bicep and sternum. They faded after ~4 hrs. Vomited twice (second half of my breakfast) while trying to dress in the radiology place.

My gyn surgeon had me on Dilaudid & Zofran Thurs. I switched down to Percocet & Zofran Fri. I'll try to limit Rx meds today. Pain is less than past 4 days, but my stomach now visibly tight and distended. Not extreme, but abnormal!

No abx yet. I take vitamin & herbal supplements. Yes, milk thistle, garlic, Pau d'Arco caps (for Candida control). Ran out of Kefir Thurs, but eat plain yogurt and take Megadophilis caps. Use ground flaxseed in/on food and take cod liver oil. I stopped Malic Relief Formula & my whole-food Cal/Mag Vit D3 complex 'cause they may be rougher on a sensitive tummy.

Was on BRAT diet Friday afternoon & night.

I suspect ulcer-like symptoms due to too long on naproxen. Had been taken 1 220mg tab 3x/day w meals for many months as per orthopaedic surgeons & physical therapists. Severe fibro pains and significant multi-joint swelling. Plus started Lyrica for Fibro in early April. Told ducks I have a very sensitive stomach and asked for Celebrex, but all kept saying my naproxen dose was very low and encouraged me to take more since my pain & swelling persist.

Going to try Smooth Move tea now. Suggestions welcome.

Parasites and worms play a MAJOR part in Lyme disease. Check out the symptom list for parasites at humaworm. Also google Hulda Clark parasite cleanse. PLEASE don't ignore this,

Gael

This class of meds can cause gastritis.
It did for me...lots of reflux and burping/belching.

I had to stop taking Ibuprofen.

It sounds more like medication side effects than anything that a parasite would do. Like Carol says above, thats a hard drug to take.

Hi, Friends.
Well, I'm coping. Trying to find a LL gastroenterologist or even a Lyme-friendly gastroenterologist. Not easy!

Seems either I got problems (again!) from naproxen and/or it's Bartonella.

I'd asked at least 6 ducks to give me Celebrex or something else for inflammation since I've a sensitive stomach, but all told me not to worry. Oh, Brother!

TF recently posted about Bartonella on another thread, and it stirred me to dig into other pages I hadn't highlighted yet in Burrascanco's Oct 2008 LD monograph. Pgs 24-26 rang many bells for me. [bow] Thanks, TF!

May have been gifted a Bartonella-like organism by the tick above my navel Sept '09. [shake] I've had sore soles in the morning most of May, at least, plus cognitive deficits and new anxiety in 2010. Never noticed 'til today that I definitely have numerous tender sub-cutaneous nodules along my outer thigh and shins. Had those nodules noted on my arms by an occupational therapist, too.

Al, this is not IBS; it's higher up. My stomach is very distended. May have hepatomegaly, too.

My BM's are back to "normal for me": formed but pale. Still getting cramping stomach pains, horrible nausea after bending at the waist (like for dishwasher), constantly swollen R lymph node at jaw, the usual terrible myofascial pain and swollen joints... Running a Lymie fever of 98.0 F (My temp is 96 point somethin' when healthy.)

A dear friend got me more coconut milk kefir [lick] , aloe juice, and curcumin. Hangin' on 'til I can see a LLMD. Now I want levofloxacin!

Thanks for your care & concern. Best wishes to all,
Smile

There is a LL gastro doc in Atlantic City, NJ or near there...DR. F. I know he sees kids but not sure if he sees adults. Might be worth looking into. PM me if you want his name.

Dear kissygoose, Have you heard anything about your gastro issues? Hope you're having less pain!

My pain was worse today. I needed narcotics just to make a few phone calls and put food in the microwave. Continuously found myself doubled over, clutching my crampy stomach, moaning audibly. Less nausea today, though.

My abdominal CT found five issues. Possible small adenoma that needs MRI, lab & clinical follow-up. I have appt w/ a local gastroenterologist Thurs. Seems there isn't even one Lyme-friendly gastroenterologists known to treat adults in the northeastern U.S.

Naproxen gave me gastritis and a stomach ulcer (was taking it for a sprained ankle). I was placed on PPIs and now my stomach is addicted to them. I will have to wean myself off prilosec over the course of a few months using DGL licorice and Zantac. Not looking forward to it.

Just be careful if you decide to use a PPI. Your GI system can and does become accustomed to them and it can be very hard to get off of it (BAD gastric acid rebound).

Unfortunately I had no idea about this when I first went on them-and now I'm stuck. I will get off it eventually, but I have bigger fish to fry first.

Pale stools are a classic symptom of gall stones obstructing the bile duct. With right upper quadrant pain, you are a typical presentation.
And perimenopausal women are in the highest risk group.

Please get a CT of your gallbladder! Yesterday, if possible!!

And good luck!
