Does any one know what a good dose for an 11 year old who weighs 85 lbs is for Bactrim? My LLMD has him on 2 per day regular strength and I want to make sure that is enough and that he is not being under treated???? He is also on Mepron 1 tsp 2 x day and Zith adult dose.
Thanks in advance! Stacy

Thanks Squashlyme for the Mepron suggestions. ANYONE for the Bactrim for kids?

My 13 yo is on regular bactrim (400/80), 1 tab bid. With the younger ones, don't think they go with the DS.

squashlyme is probably talking about the liquid form of Bactrim for kids.
However, that dose (1 tsp twice daily) is half of what your son is taking:
"Each teaspoonful (5 mL) of SEPTRA Grape Suspension contains 40 mg trimethoprim and 200 mg sulfamethoxazole "
