I am back with this rash problem. I went off all my meds, and now I am back on them again. Started on bactrim. All fine for a few days. Then added back omnicef (something that I have been on for while). My rash is backk.
I am really wondering if this might be a herx and not an allergic reaction to the meds. I have read EVERYTHING about bactrim and allergic reactions. It is possible.
Has anyone has swollen lips as part of a bart herx?
I am convinced the bactrim is helping so I am going to push it a little bit and see what happens. Rifampin didn't touch the bart and levaquin was not a drug I can take. I am running out of bart solutions.

I have had swollen lips and a rash in the past, and it was due to an allergic reaction to medication. I stopped the medication and it went away.
However, I do not have Bart so I cannot say whether it would be a herx or not.

I had red burning swollen lips after starting Bactrim DS. Also, rashes that covered my entire forearms and legs. I stuck with it and doing great, all that cleared up and this stuff is really doing a number on my particular bart strain (whatever that is?).
Try not to freak out and tunnel vision on all the horror stories of Bactrim DS.
It's a great drug IMO.

Thanks, Toppers. How long did it take beforeit all calmed down.
I have read your posts and you have responded to me. I apprecaite it. I want to keep with it. I am trying to stick with it. I was also slowly adding back in other meds. Right now I might just continue only on the bactrim this week. Rifampin didn't help and levaquin, no good.
I think it is helping me besides the obvious mess on my face and body. I can breathe just fine, etc.
Also, I am having other weird symptoms that I am attributing to a herx. Guess I won't get kissed much.

What other medicines are you taking as well. You seem to be having a very similar experience to me. Just curious. Kathy

Just on Bactrim DS. I was going to add Rifampin back in the mix, or Biaxin but doing so well on DS alone I don't feel the need.
I think a combo of these 3 is the best shot at bart I have seen. I'm just going to make my own combo probably adding in Biaxin next IF needed. Never tried Levaquin but no desire to if the mentioned drugs can handle it, and so far they are.

Glad to hear that you are doing so well. I am going to do my best to give this a go, rash or no rash. I am not going to add back any other abx until I can see if this will stop.
Things are happening, just not sure what to think about them.
Thanks for taking the time to tell me your experience.
