Hi everyone,

I have been suffering from hair loss for over a year now. It is getting to the point now that it's becoming noticeable to others.

I don't even really think that I'm losing too much hair, but more that it's not growing in at a fast enought rate.

My thyroid hormone levels check out fine although my antithryoid antibodies are very high (over 1,300 when they should be under 60).

I'm wondering if it could be my adrenals. I also have very dry skin on my hands, acne and late afternoon fatigue.

Oh, and I've suffered two early miscarriages in the last 8 months.

Input is much appreciated,

Lymers

Lymers,

I had posted a couple threads regarding this recently.

Do a search on hair loss, you might find some extra information.

The couple things I've noticed that I can share are:

While on Amoxicillin, my hair loss stops and hair seems to start re-growing. (this isn't true for everyone).

A few supplements that have helped my hair look healthier are:

RegeneMAX (standard dose)
Biotin (5mg)

Maybe helped:

Iodoral (12.5mg)

That's a great chart, canefan! thanks for posting it!

When looking at the chart, how do you know what's caused by lyme and what's caused by adrenal or thyroid problems? I was kind of all over the place or nowhere on the chart. Is that good or bad?

17hens,

Reality is... it's BOTH!

When your adrenals are exhausted... the thyroid shuts down and stops functioning at 100% (represented by rT3, reverse T3)

And vice-versa. When the thyroid is under-functioing... the adrenals have to pick up the slack and it becomes overwhelming.

But with that said... the adrenals are the workhorse ad in most cases... if you recover the adrenals... you can naturally/nutritionally support the thyroid and it'll bounce back quickly.

: )

I agree it is both !

Also may look at pituitary + hypothalamus.

Pituitary is the king of the HPA axis, but.....the hypothalamus is the power behind the throne.

i have hashimotos like you do with your antibodies that high. my doc is treating my with sythroid. it helped in the begining but as my other problems with my health have gotten worse i am not noticing the gains i made when i first started taking it.
if you decide to go that direction it can take awhile to get the right dosage etc. i am going to ask about doing bio-identcal thyroid with my dr k appt.

i have had hair loss for years and in the last 6 months it is so bad i don't want to go out with out a hat.

used to have such beautiful thick hair. now its like straw what little i have mats up into dreads.
i know it sounds terribly vain to be so upset about it considering all the other problems i am having but i feel so ugly... inside and out.

i know this isn't helping my health, having negative feelings about myself but its hard not to. i look and feel so much older then i am..

i agree with massman. the bigger issue is the HPA. my tests for pituitary function were pretty bad. thanks for posting the other threads ..i will look into those as well.
