Lyme goes into the brain. Wherever it goes, it causes damage.
Whatever bodily system it attacks, that system will not be able to work properly because of the disease.
There is some evidence that other brain diseases like Alzheimer's may actually be caused by lyme disease. The lyme has been found in the Alzheimer's patients' brains when autopsied. May also be true of other brain diseases like Parkinson's.
My lyme doc told me that lyme affects the sleep center of the brain. That's why I couldn't sleep.
It also likes to attack places that are responsible for memory.
I had 2 brain lesions that were called UBOs (unidentified bright objects). These are likely caused by the lyme making our blood thick, so it can't get to all parts of the brain as it should. Medically, they are places of hypoperfusion (low blood flow). No wonder we can't remember anything!
Dr. Burrascano says that lyme is predominantly a disease affecting the nervous system. The brain is the center of the nervous system. So, it is natural for a nervous system disease to affect the brain.
