I'm starting Ceftin in few days/weeks together with major biofilm busting (Boluoke->Detoxamin Sup.->Chlorella->Vit C) and wanted to add Probenecid for better results. Given I don't get my prescriptions and drugs in US pharmacies (long story:) could you tell me what is the alternative herb/enzyme or anything else that works like probenecid?
Would appreciate dosage too...Thanks!

Thought it was used only with amoxicillin, to keep it in system longer.
I never heard it that makes abxs work better nor that it gives better results.

bot amoxicicllin and cefuroxim (Ceftin) are cousins of penicilin. I've read somewhere that probenecid should have the same influence on Ceftin (keep it in your system longer) as it has on amoxy, if i'm wrong disregard my question Posts: 67 | From New York | Registered: Oct 2009

No, its used with other antibiotics like Omnicef and Ceftin.
It's available without a prescription through InHouse Pharmacy (one of the overseas places- see my Lyme friends post about overseas antibiotics for more info on these)- but they charge something like $75 for a months' worth rather than it costing $20ish in the US if you can get a prescription.
A lot of Lyme patients are on this stuff.
It's mostly associated with amoxycillin because amoxy is not 'as' effective for Lyme without high doses and taking additional measures like probenecid makes it more likely that the your body's use of the amoxycillin will be more optimal.
I think that some LLMD's prescribe the other meds like ceftin without probenecid and still get decent results.
