Hi everyone,
I recall, possibly that a LLMD that wrote a book about Babesia, said that Coenzyme Q10 triggers Babesia or makes it worse? I am not talking about taking it while being on Mepron
but while taking it while OFF antibiotics does it trigger Babesia? feed it?
Please let me know if anyone knows this.
Thanks,
Trish

Both Dr. S and Dr. S (they've written books) recommend avoiding the fat-soluble antioxidants (CoQ10, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Vitamin E) while treating for Babesia, as they may interfere with the action of the antimicrobials.
You can take them when you are not treating. They do not "feed" the Babesia.

I'm with Boxermom. I have only heard of not taking them when on Mepron and other medicines like this.

Hmmm...my llmd suggested CoQ10 even tho I have babesia. I definitely take antimicrobials. Will alter and see what happens, especially given that the babesia is s-l-o-w-l-y abating.

Do not take CoQ10 while taking Mepron as the CoQ10 counteracts the effects of Mepron. Same thing for any tetracycline drug as per Dr.B.
Fine to take CoQ10 otherwise.

So with doxicycline and minocycline we should not take CoQ10. My doctor didn't tell me.

I have not heard this in relation to the tetracyclines. I've been told to avoid minerals, even dairy, within 2 hours of the tetracyclines, because they bind with the drug in the gut.
That said, to avoid nausea, I've been eating yogurt through my entire protocol (25 months now), and I am progressing just fine.
I also took CoQ10 and ALA while on Mepron, and did fine. I was having arrythmias at the time. But to be safe, if you are unsure, I would avoid them.
The herb hawthorn is excellent for the heart, as is D-ribose. And, of course, milk thistle for the liver.
