OK who are the experts here?

Saliva cortisol yielded middling high results in AM to really high in PM (wired, jacked up feeling, can't stand it).

Doc RX rhodiola rosea and ashwagandha and Vit C....but arent' these stimulants?

And then Seriphos of course in PM to bring it down.

SeriPhos always worked very well for me (and I so miss it as it had to be cut for practical reasons).

You can read more about that at www.vrp.com - search articles on that and on adrenals.

Vitamin C is excellent. If it makes you feel speedy, cut back on the dose - or don't take too late in the day. But it also has some calming effect so, with B-6 before bed, it can work for some.

Rhodiola can be a bit too stimulating for some - or at first.

Most adrenal herbs are what's called "Adaptogen" and work with your body. Other than Rhodiola or Korean Ginseng, most are not stimulating.

There are many kinds of Ginseng and the best is called that but not really one at all: Siberian Ginseng (Eleu...). Ashwagandha is wonderful.

Supplements can help to heal the HPA axis.

After the primary task of treating infection(s), this kind of concentrated food is a requirement of sorts, as a good diet is helpful but not enough to heal. Rest only works up to a point and, of course, good habits are important. However, very specific nutrients - from supplements - are a very important factor.

There are choices. That is good. It's good to study all the choices and compare and contrast with your needs. Also, it's good to rotate from time to time. So, having so many to consider is a good thing.

B5 (1000mg+/day)
Adaptocrin Herbs (ash, rhodiola, siberian ginseng, etc)

Eat 5-6 small meals/day
Avoid sugar like the plague.
Have a protein at every meal.
Wake up at same time every day.
Exercise 3-4 times per week(moderately)

Pantothenic Acid which is B5- activates adrenal glands. Is a prescursor acetyl CoA( a part of the Krebs cycle which produces cllulr energy) and acetycholine ( a primary neurotransmitter) A B% deficiency results in adrenal insufficiency, which is characterized by fatigue, headache, sleep disturbance and abdominal discomfort.

Thanks for the posts.

I am confused though.....I need something to bring them UP in the mornings and then start to calm them by mid-day.

Rhodiola and Vit C and ashwaghanda will bring them UP, so good in the AM, but how about getting them down so I am not jacked and wired? Someone said holy basil.

I posted on the Yahoo Natural Thyroid and Adrenals group about this also.

Many supps push up, some others pull down.

So WHY is push pull push pull push pull important to do ? That is treating symptoms not causes. Have to treat that way forever.With actually getting the organ to heal the best it can, you usually do not have to treat it forever

If anything makes you feel "jacked and wired" - at anytime of the day - that can be very harmful to the adrenals. VERY harmful. Adrenal support is not about stimulation, it's about gentle support.

(But, yes, Holy Basil - or Tulsi - is very calming and nourishing.)

By feeding the organs, they will heal. We cannot tell them to push or pull . . . adaptogens are brilliant food as when the body takes up nutrition, then the systems can better heal.

Rather than determine that we need to stimulate in the mornings, we may actually need to rest - if that is what our body needs at that time.

Our will can't drive it, the need of our body has to drive how we respond. Support it, and it will come around, just maybe not right on our time table. We do have to follow the "Lights Out" thing at night, but as for pushing during the morning, some bodies just can't do that without further stress.

I used to have SEVERE adrenal fatigue. I know the wired feeling you are talking about. What helped me the most aside from b-5 was complex carbohydrates and a tranquilizer like zanax or valium.

It would put me in a relaxed state so my adrenals would calm down and I could sleep. I know some might not agree with this, but it's what helped me.

I am a big proponent of holistic health, but sometimes pharmecuticals are needed. You also might want to try some SEA SALT because the adrenals need salt. Things like chamomile tea or anything that has a sedative effect can help also.

Gale or other, any other recommendations on this? How long does it take to heal them?

I totally agree on the need for a Klonopin or other, otherwise there is no way on sleep sometimes.

I am doing high dose Vit C (5-8 grams), sea salt, rhodiola in AM, Seriphos in PM, and will probably start ashwaganda.
