Anyone know anything about this? LLMD gave me a prescription for VSL# DS (double strenght) as I heard that it may be covered by health insurance.

My health insurance rep is saying that it cannot be covered because this drug does not have an NDC number.

Does anyone know the NDC# for VSL#3DS?

Thank you.

I tried doing this too. My insurance, which was state Medicaid, would not cover it. It just wasn't on the list of things they cover.

They do cover a lot of things, so I was bummed.

I looked on the box but was unable to find the NDC#. Try giving the company a call they should be able to help you.

I think they would have had to go through FDA review for safety and effectiveness in order to have a number.

Thank you all for your responses. I just called the VSL#3 company and learned that it does not have an NDC#, so my insurance company will not cover it.

Can any of you tell me where I can get the regular VSL#3 at a more reasonable price?

I have heard of people getting private ins coverage for it, but I don't believe medicare/medicaid will cover it

Well, for what is it worth, private insurances will cover medications without a NDC # if it is a compounded medication (like my B-12 losengers and glutathione). But, it is normally at a very high copay.

If this is a supplement, most insurances won't cover it, but if the doctor has ordered it and he writes a script for it, you can claim it on your taxes.
