hello all!

my doctor has me on biaxin currently (mono therapy). i've been on it for about a month and have definitely herxed a bit. no dramatic improvements or anything though (i know it's still early).

i'm thinking of asking him to add in a second abx soon. i'm not sure what my options are, though.

i've been having some problems with the vision in my left eye so i don't think plaquenil is a good idea.

i'm very hesitant to take flagyl just because i'd like to avoid it if possible given the carcinogenic issue.

additionally i'm allergic to penicillin, sulfa drugs, and cephalosporins.

so... i'm wondering, could i do something like a biaxin + mino combo?

if anyone has any ideas for me i would love to hear them.

i know a lot of people say biaxin alone won't do any good... but i have herxed on it... and i've read a few anecdotal reports of biaxin alone working wonders.. so don't know what to think at this point.

thank you!!

I took Biaxin alone for a long time. It was great for me. We also added flagyl to kill the cyst form. Are you planning on saving up all those cysts you are creating? Not a good idea!

I may also have taken it with mino at one point...can't remember.

thanks all!

so it sounds like asking about mino would be a good place to start.

i don't think i can take ceftin or rocephin because of my cephalosporin allergy -- i believe they are in the same class?

again i am hesitant to try plaq given my eye issues.

so aside from flagyl, what good cyst busters are there? does mino "irritate" the cysts?

are there any NATURAL cyst busters that i could use in conjunction with the biaxin?

i read that GSE is a cyst buster....

thanks again, all.

I can't tell from your post if you are female or male. I am a female and had balance issues and other problems with the Mino so my LLMD put me on Doxy instead.

I thought I was allergic to sulfa drugs years ago because of a reaction I had. My LLMD thought it might just have been a herx from my undiagnosed lyme. He did a blood test to see if I have a sulfa allergy and it came back negative.

I haven't tried a sulfa drug yet though. My LLMD thinks that many reactions may not be pure allergic reactions. Just a thought. I don't know what your reactions were.

I am currently on Biaxin, Doxy, Acyclovir, Nystatin, Mepron and Rocephin and bicillin shots.

Biaxin is a messy antibiotic though and interacts with alot of other drugs because of the way the boy detoxes it. Check for interations at drugs.com.

I hope this helps.
