So, I know that anxiety, mood swings, depression and irritability are all symptoms of Lyme. I've experienced all of these myself. What about anger and/or uncontrollable anger type rages/temper tantrums? Is this a known Lyme symptom?
Have any of you experienced this? I'm specifically wondering about kids. How common is this in a child? I have a 5 year old nephew that has been diagnosed with Lyme. There are a few things that are making me wonder if he's had Lyme longer than we think...
Does anyone have any input that you can share with me?

I haven't experienced the rage, but have had to deal with the others...particularly the anxiety.
However, come to think of it, I have gotten angry pretty quickly at times. I always figured it was because of the irritability.

is there a symptom list that actually has "lyme rage" on it? I haven't actually found that as a symptom (written down) yet, but would be interested to see it.

I think a person has "rage" because they are having a psychological reaction to the anger and frustration of dealing with a horrible chronic illness.
Or it could be a mental condition that resulted from having LD.
I don't buy that one of the first symptoms of LD would be rage. It might be caused from ongoing stress before LD and then becoming ill triggers anger that results in rage.
Irritability multiplied by 100 because you are miserable, worn out, worried, and sick could result in rage behavior.

I believe my daughter's first symptoms were OCD, anxiety, and bipolar-like rage. This happened within a few months of her bullseye rash. Then she started getting migraines.
We are mostly treating to get rid of her constant headache, but her mental symptoms have shown the most improvement.
She still has OCD, but her raging seems to be completely gone (for now) and her anxiety is mostly gone.
Her anxiety started coming up again when we put her on Omnicef and her raging flared when she was on Rifampin. I think it is all connected.
She was 6 when this started.
