I am reading sick and tired by robert o young and this would seem a complete rehash of his interesting work going back to the work of Pasteur etc.

That book is the one to read rather than this ebook.

I never buy ebooks myself so am not interested in buying it myself.

For me the simplest idea from young which I have adopted is drinking at least 4 litres of good quality water to which you add a teaspoon of baking soda for each litre.

Most people say you dont need that amount of water but if you are extremely acidic...it seems to me an idea worth trying out.

Every body has a different notion of what an alkaline diet is so I very cautious on this point.

an extract from Robert o youngs blog at articlesofhealth

Lyme's Disease is caused by a spirochete bacteria or a Tick bite.

Once again this is medical science at its best trying to keep the germ and infection theory alive. There is NO bacteria or spirochete bacteria that causes Lyme's Dis-ease. Lyme's dis-ease is nothing more than the blood trying to purify itself from excess metabolic and/or dietary acid by removing these acids out into the colloidal connective tissues. Simply put Lyme's dis-ease is nothing more than a person who is adsorbing and absorbing their own urine into the colloidal connective tissues. The irritation and inflammation and then degeneration one feels is all caused by dietary and/or metabolic acid that has NOT been properly eliminated through the four channels of elimination - urination, perspiration, defecation and respiration. My recommendation for so-called Lyme's Dis-ease is an alkaline lifestyle and diet with at least 2 hours of exercise daily. In other words "get off you fat or skinny ac-id! and Go To Health!"

14) Taking digestive enzymes will help digestion.

This is a major fable and fabrication to which many holistic doctors prescribe. And it's a dangerous one....especially for people who take digestive enzymes all the time. Enzymes are acids from fermentation and are poisonous. Just like Drano, taking enzymes will eventually destroy your alkalizing alimentary canal. One will kill you fast and one will kill you slow! Digestive enzymes may break down meat, but nutritional science clearly tells us that you shouldn't be eating meat. They will break you down too because guess what? Your alimentary canal is meat!!

15) Blood is made in the marrow of the bones.

This inaccuracy and science fiction began with the distortions of four scientists in 1952 when they conducted starvation studies on rabbits and pigeons and decided after autopsy that blood was created in the bones. This is NOT correct. The primary site of blood production is in the crypts of the intestinal villi in the small intestine. When acids (antibiotics, acid food and drink, enzymes, probiotics) damage or destroy the intestinal villi, then the body makes blood out of various body cells such as the bones. The studies on blood in 1952 may likely have been the correct conclusion if the autopsies had been done on humans--assuming the bodies had starved to death like the rabbits and pigeons. Logically, autopsies are done on people who have been very sick and finally died. The body is so sick that blood has not been made in the the intestinal villi perhaps for some time. Now medical savants have amazingly discovered that blood can also be made in the liver. The truth is that it can also be made from all the organs and all the cells once the body is sickly enough. Hopefully, we won't be doing autopsies on healthy bodies because they rarely die. But if we did, we'd find out where blood is really made in a healthy body....in the crypts of the intestinal villi in the twenty-seven feet of the small intestine.

From a supporter of robert o young:

Q&A: Allopathic Medicine vs. Pleomorphism

Q: I'm curious why allopathic medicine repudiates live blood cell analysis.

A: This battle goes back a very long time. There are actually 2 schools of thought in medical science. There is the germ theory, and there is pleomorphism. There were two leading scientists and microbiologists in the 19th century: Antoine Bechamp and Louis Pasteur. They had very different theories as to how the body worked and how the blood operates. So there was a little battle in medical science, and based on the popularity of names, I am sure you can guess that Pasteur won.

The difference in the two was that Bechamp said that bacteria are within our bodies and all around us, and we are not invaded by germs and bacteria, but that germs and bacteria already exist in us. Based on the internal body terrain, those bacteria and germs are either helpful to us or harmful to us. If the internal bodily fluids are acidic, the bacteria change form and shape (pleomorphism) and turn into bad bacteria which then further form into yeast and fungus and then mold. Pasteur had a different idea. He said that we were invaded by germs and bacteria and they get into our system and attack our system making our systems sick and tired. He believed we needed to kill these bacteria and germs and then we would be safe and not get sick.

You also have to realize we live in America, and we have Capitalism. One of these views was more profitable for big business, the economy, and medical professionals for the future. Thus, the government decided to fund Pasteur. There are so many books that have been written about this and the battle and the shady stuff that happened with Pasteur. Bechamp was basically shooed away and ripped off, but his science still thrives today in Live Blood Cell Analysis and the Alkaline way of life.

So, the government worked with Pasteur, paid him lots of money, and they came up with pasteurization which you flash heat at very high temperatures basically everything that you consume. Milk was one of the first things pasteurized. We used to drink raw milk a long long time ago, and everyone thrived. But big business began to realize that if the milk was pasteurized, it would last longer on grocery shelves and the need for the milk man would go away, saving money. That is what happened. So, through pasteurization, they basically kill all bacteria... good AND bad... but they also kill all nutrition too. They have to go back in and add vitamins and minerals and some good bacteria to things which have been pasteurized, which is not the same (if they even go back in and add it at all). They can say it has carrots and other vegetables in it, but if it is pasteurized, that nutrition is dead because it has been killed at high temperatures.

Live Blood Cell Analysis (LBCA) is the work of Bechamp and many other scientists who picked up and continued his work. It says that the internal body terrain is what makes the difference, and you can clearly see that in an LBCA. I saw it in my own blood which made me a HUGE supporter and believer. I saw a bacteria change shape before my very own eyes and morph into another bad bacteria, and that bacteria then went on to ferment in my system and create yeast. I caught it on the camera too.

When I first read this post, I thought "Freaky..."

Well yeah, it's freaky if you don't understand what the author of the book is talking about.

So, to be fair, I went to Amazon.com and started reading the reviews of this book.

There are reviews by experts who actually understand what he's talking about, including one by a person who wrote a textbook about pH balance.
I wanted to see the reasoning behind the poor reviews, not just read the five star reviews.

I am finding that in some cases, reading the reviews for a book is almost as informative as reading the book.

How can he say there is NO bacteria in Lyme disease when the bacteria that causes lyme WAS FOUND years ago... obviously a healthy diet is good for everyone.. but saying we are basically all crazy and there is no infection is crazy.

"the internal body terrain is what makes the difference"

Makes very good sense to me. Will their environment let them or encourage them to thrive ?

Listen to the lecture on the current thread about no antibiotics for more info.

Many people get stuck in certain thinking patterns. I know at times I do.

What "makes the difference" in how well a person handles an infection is quite different from saying a toxic bacteria does not cause infection.

Lyme is caused by a spirochete. Period. Does it matter how well a person takes care of oneself? Absolutely. Positively. Is it a guarantee against getting a snake bite? No. And neither is it a guarantee against a spider bite or a tick bite, or being affected by any diseases those carry.

It is clear that a spirochete is the cause of borrelia b. And, yet - absolutely - it's good to look at who is most at risk as much as it's vital to look at a person's organ strength and weaknesses prior to infection -- but the infecting agent is the spirochete.

We have to be careful with water, too. Too much can be very stressful on our kidneys.

I've been working on getting rid of acid in my body, on that much I agree.

It is hard to take anyone seriously who states that "Lyme's" dis-ease is NOT caused by bacteria. I don't have the time or desire to wade through his material to figure out if any of it is valid.

Massman stated:
Toxins cause symptoms.

Yes, many of the toxins are caused by the bacteria itself.

Knee jerk reaction has nothing to do with it. His message is lost because he is another person who is misinformed about the realities of lyme disease.

Lyme/spiro infection is real and I can't think of anything worse than drinking "four liters of good quality water and adding baking powder".

Flushing out the few minerals that we are able to absorb in a Lymed condition must mean misery short of a death sentence. That is all you are doing with drinking excessive amounts of water - flushing out minerals faster than you can absorb them from food and drink.

We have a huge problem in this world with toxic heavy metals stored in our body providing housing for the pathogens including Lyme. To make the housing less pleasant, we have to get rid of the toxic deposits.
The worst of them only go into solution in an acidic environment planned well. Lacking any of the essential minerals will stall detox dead in its tracks.

Take care.

thanks for the concern.

There is no scientific consensus on how much water you need.

I am adding green clay and real salt to my water so i am getting plenty of minerals. I add a teaspoon of clay toevery litre.

Doing this also makes it more akaline or structured some argue. All water is not the same!!!!

I filter my water with a good filtration system.

There are lots of testimonials on the web of people who have followed the advice of drinking more good water. here is one:

his weekend I had the opportunity to do some videoing. My business partner and I wanted to text various water products to see that their relative pH values would be. In light of the war that appears to be going on for control of your purchasing power, I really want to find the answers.

On one side of the equation we have big companies and multinational corporations that produce really great tasting beverages. Who doesn't enjoy a nice cold beer or a favorite soda on a hot day? These products taste so good... how could anybody say they are not good for us? On the other side of the equation we have health scientists who are now beginning to identify some of the finer points to disease prevention. One of those points is that the role of alkalinity is more important than we previously realized.

All anyone has to do is search and they will find a ton of research that supports alkalinity. It's common knowledge now that cancer won't grow in alkaline environments. Cancer requires an acidic environment. When scientists started looking at disease prevention rather than disease curing, it became clear that there were some environmental factors that contributed significantly to growth of diseases.

I tested a dozen of the most popular beverages on the market. Interestingly, every single one of them was acidic. There wasn't a single one that even came close to neutral. One of the sports drinks, in fact, tested so acidic that it prompted me to laugh and compare it with battery acid. And that prompted us to setup a next video shoot. We are going to buy a automotive battery - probably a motorcycle battery. We are going to order it without any acid so that it has no charge. We are then going to fill the battery with the sports drink and then hook a volt meter to the battery to prove that the drink will, in fact, generate electricity!

Where ever I go on the net I find testimonials about the efficacy of alkaline diets. Dr. Robert O. Young has some great material out, including three books on the subject. The problem for all of us is that we are going to have to find a happy middle ground. I don't think that it should be all one way or all the other way. I'd really like to have a soda every once in a while and I sure do love my buttered popcorn on the weekends. So the big question for me becomes, "what is the formula for success in balancing a diet?"

I am presently drinking 3 to 4 litres of water per day. I have noticed some excellent health improvements over the past few months, including weight loss and my friends tell me that my skin looks younger or smoother. I can't tell that part because I see the face every day.

My focus for the next few months is going to be on accessing the best science I can find on alkalinity and disease. Of particular interest is cancer. My father died of cancer and so I am not particularly happy with that disease. It would be fair to say, that I want to get even. I know that my other articles on cancer and c-reactive protein get a ton of views, so that is a good indication where the interest is. To that end, I can only promise that I will seek out and bring you the best information on the planet. I will translate it into a language that we can all understand, and then perhaps we can collectively make some headway in stopping this disease.

gabriel cousins M.D talks a lot about the quality of water, what he calls structured water in his book Spiritual Nutrition.

As I say with clay I think I am drinking that now.

from a blog:

ast November Esm and I went to Israel to interview Gabriel Cousens. This is part of these interviews. More will be available soon.

Drinking good quality water is the key to a healthier and longer life. We are made mainly out of water.
Water is essential for all cellular and bodily functions.
Water helps to keep the blood thin, so that it can flow well.
Water is important for the elimination of toxins.
Water helps the body to metabolize stored fat and therefore to lose excess weight.
Water helps to relieve constipation.

Water suppresses appetite.
And water does many more things in the body.

Listen to Gabriel Cousens on how he creates the best quality drinking water:
"Because of all the pollution in the world, the best water is distilled water. But distilled water by itself is aggressive and immature. I out a formula in the book ``Spiritual Nutrition''. You take a gallon of distilled water, add a pinch of salt or 12 drops of active ionic, so that you get 50 parts per million. This way you create H3O, the best water there is. With 50 parts per million, you don't have the aggressive pulling out of minerals out of the body.
Then you structure this water by putting it out in the moonlight overnight. The moon structures water, not the sun. Then you bless it and you have good quality water. Crystal energy from micro crystals is also very good to structure it.
So first you heat the water and take out all the herbicides and pesticides, and destroy all the homeopathic pattern of the herbicides and pesticides. Then you restructure the water with salt, crystal energy, moonlight and by blessing it."

Personally I think that natural spring water is also a good quality water, if you can find a natural spring in the neighborhood. It's pure and alive, full of energy. Look at the power in a natural spring. This structured water sounds as a fantastic alternative though, if you life in the city or have no natural springs in the area.

Robert O. Young, Ph.D, D. Sc.
In the 1930s two men made major discoveries that we are only now beginning to understand and act upon.

Victor Schauberger, a forester in the Austrian Mountains, discovered that water is a living entity that has truly remarkable powers as it emerges from high mountain springs. If it were allowed to run between cool shady banks of the original forest, it would remain energized and be able to enrich the whole of the watershed in which it flowed. Indeed, the whole ecology of the land and animals, including man, depends on this energized water. Schauberger showed that if the forest cover that shaded the banks of the water courses was logged and that water therefore became heated by the sun, the life-giving properties of primary water were gradually dissipated. The whole water cycle became disrupted, the fertility of the soil was depleted, and so was the health of all who drank the water.

Meanwhile, in France, Claude Vincent was commissioned by the French government to find out why certain areas of France had higher levels of cancer than others. Professor Vincent was a hydrologist. He therefore tested the water in these areas and confirmed independently what Schauberger had found. The areas that had a high level of health and a low incidence of cancer had water that came from deep artesian springs and was highly energized. The converse was also true. The area that displayed the highest cancer incidence and overall mortality were shown to have low-energy water that came from more superficial sources; by flowing through open country it had lost its ability to sustain health in the ecosystem.

Vincent initially tested three parameters of water, blood saliva and urine:

1. pH or acid/alkaline balance. Healthy water was more alkaline; degraded water became more acidic. This was found long before the acid rain from industrial gases started to kill our lakes and rivers. Vincent also tested the pH of the blood, saliva and urine and found that in poor health the internal water was more acidic, especially in the tissues. The more acidic the tissues became, the higher the risk of ill health and cancer.
2. rH2 was the second quality of water Vincent measured. This is a measure of energy and reflects the number of electrons in the water. Unfortunately, energized water is called ``reduced'' water, and the energizing process is called ``reduction'', because the early scientists believed that the current flowed from the positive electrode to the negative pole. We now know that it flows in the opposite direction, and it is the flow of electrons that does the work, whether in an electrical appliance, a battery, or in a human body. rH2 is also linked to the reduction/oxidation potential, called ``redox'' for short. Again, oxidation (or fermentation) means a loss of energy or electrons (or a gain of protons), and reduction means a gain in energy or electrons (or a loss of protons).

Vincent found that water became degraded or acidic by flowing through areas unprotected by trees or through distribution pipes. It became more oxidized or acidic and lost its electrons. This was associated with a higher death rate in communities served by this oxidized or energy-depleted water. It was difficult to ignore that the quality of water being drunk on a daily basis was reflected in the diminished quality of health of those drinking it.

Other research on the Hunza people of northern Pakistan has indicated that the one major difference between long-lived healthy people and their less healthy brothers and sisters is in the water they drink. Living in the mountains, they have access to glacial melt from the rushing mountain streams. This water is very high in electons, energy and minerals. It is also in ``micro colloidal'' form, which means that it has increased power to dissolve minerals and salts.
3. Resistance, or R, was the third parameter measured by Vincent. This refers to the amount of dissolved minerals in the solution in the water. The higher the R factor, the more pure the water, the lower the R, the more electrolytes in the water. Schauberger showed that rain water was immature water and needed to go through a ``cycle'' in the soil, wehre it would pick up nutrients and become mature. On the other hand, glacial melt contains many minerals in solution and appears to be one of the main reasons that the Hunza people live so long in such good health.

As Vincent started to measure the water compartments in the body, the correlation between the drinking water, the quality of water in the body and the quality of health became undeniable. He developed the B.E.V., or the Biological Terrain Test. This test can evaluate the acid/alkaline balance and mycotoxic/oxidative stress in the body and can be used to predict the future of ones health. I have been evaluating live blood for over a decade and can now predict the future of ones health with one drop of blood.

Professor Vincent's solution was to move to an area of health-giving water, and he purposely withheld the location of the highest quality water that he found for fear that everyone would want to move there and destroy the precious source of water. There is, therefore, a need to be able to duplicate this highly energized and alkalized water in our homes if we wish to be healthy, as clearly we all cannot live on a mountain or near an energized spring.

The fluids of the body are balanced and fully healthy under the following conditions:

1. The pH of the extracellular fluids (the blood and lymph) to be fully healthy nees to be maintained at 7.365.
2. And the rH2 of the extracellular fluids to be fully healthy needs to be maintained at a rH2 of 22.

From the book:

"Your Body's Many Cries for Water"

AMAZING SECRETS FOR HEALTH AND WELLNESS
AMAZING SECRETS FOR HEALTH AND WELLNESS

Cure # 1: Water prevents and cures heartburn.

Heartburn is a signal of water shortage in the upper part of the gastrointestinal tract. It is a major thirst signal of the human body. The use of antacids or tablet medications in the treatment of this pain does not correct dehydration, and the body continues to suffer as a result of its water shortage.

Tragedy: Not recognizing heartburn as a sign of dehydration and treating it with antacids and pill medications will, in time, produce inflammation of the stomach and duodenum, hiatal hernia, ulceration, and eventually cancers in the gastrointestinal tract, including the liver and pancreas.
Cure # 2: Water prevents and cures arthritis.

Rheumatoid joint pain - arthritis - is a signal of water shortage in the painful joint. It can affect the young as well as the old. The use of pain-killers does not cure the problem, but exposes the person to further damage from pain medications. Intake of water and small amounts of salt will cure this problem.
Cure # 3: Water prevents and cures back pain.

Low back pain and ankylosing arthritis of the spine are signs of water shortage in the spinal column and discs - the water cushions that support the weight of the body. These conditions should be treated with increased water intake - not a commercial treatment, but a very effective one.

Tragedy: Not recognizing arthritis and low back pain as signs of dehydration in the joint cavities and treating them with pain-killers, manipulation, acupuncture, and eventually surgery will, in time, produce osteoarthritis when the cartilage cells in the joints have eventually all died. It will produce deformity of the spine. It will produce crippling deformities of the limbs. Pain medications have their own life-threatening complications.
Cure # 4: Water prevents and cures angina.

Heart pain - angina - is a sign of water shortage in the heart/lung axis. It should be treated with increased water intake until the patient is free of pain and independent of medications. Medical supervision is prudent. However, increased water intake is angina's cure.
Cure # 5: Water prevents and cures migraines.

Migraine headache is a sign of water need by the brain and the eyes. It will totally clear up if dehydration is prevented from establishing in the body. The type of dehydration that causes migraine might eventually cause inflammation of the back of the eye and possibly loss of eye sight.
Cure #6: Water prevents and cures colitis.

Colitis pain is a signal of water shortage in the large gut. It is associated with constipation because the large intestine constricts to squeeze the last drop of water from the excrements - thus the lack of water lubrication.

Tragedy: Not recognizing colitis pain as a sign of dehydration will cause persistent constipation. Later in life, it will cause fecal impacting: it can cause diverticulitis, hemorrhoids and polyps, and appreciably increases the possibility of developing cancer of the colon and rectum.
Cure # 7: Water and salt prevent and cure asthma.

Asthma, which also affects 14 million children and kills several thousand of them every year, is a complication of dehydration in the body. It is caused by the drought management programs of the body. In asthma free passage of air is obstructed so that water does not leave the body in the form of vapor - the winter steam. Increased water intake will prevent asthma attacks. Asthmatics need also to take more salt to break the mucus plugs in the lungs that obstruct the free flow of air in and out of the air sacs.

Tragedy: Not recognizing asthma as the indicator of dehydration in the body of a growing child not only will sentence many thousands of children to die every year, but will permit irreversible genetic damage to establish in the remaining 14 million asthmatic children.
Cure # 8: Water prevents and cures high blood pressure.

Hypertension is a state of adaptation of the body to a generalized drought, when there is not enough water to fill all the blood vessels that diffuse water into vital cells. As part of the mechanism of reverse osmosis, when water from the blood serum is filtered and injected into important cells through minute holes in their membranes, extra pressure is needed for the "injection process." Just as we inject I.V. "water" in hospitals, so the body injects water into tens of trillions of cells all at the same time. Water and some salt intake will bring blood pressure back to normal!

Tragedy: Not recognizing hypertension as one of the major indicators of dehydration in the human body, and treating it with diuretics that further dehydrate the body will, in time, cause blockage by cholesterol of the heart arteries and the arteries that go to the brain. It will cause heart attacks and small or massive strokes that paralyze. It will eventually cause kidney disease. It will cause brain damage and neurological disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease.
Cure # 9: Water prevents and cures early adult-onset diabetes.

Adult-onset diabetes is another adaptive state to severe dehydration of the human body. To have adequate water in circulation and for the brain's priority water needs, the release of insulin is inhibited to prevent insulin from pushing water into all body cells. In diabetes, only some cells get survival rations of water. Water and some salt will reverse adult-onset diabetes in its early stages.

Tragedy: Not recognizing adult-onset diabetes as a complication of dehydration will, in time, cause massive damage to the blood vessels all over the body. It will cause eventual loss of the toes, feet and legs from gangrene. It will cause eye damage, even blindness.
Cure # 10: Water lowers blood cholesterol.

High cholesterol levels are an indicator of early drought management by the body. Cholesterol is a clay-like material that is poured in the gaps of some cell membranes to safeguard them against losing their vital water content to the osmotically more powerful blood circulating in their vicinity. Cholesterol, apart from being used to manufacture nerve cell membranes and hormones, is also used as a "shield" against water taxation of other vital cells that would normally exchange water through their cell membranes.
Cure # 11: Water cures depression, loss of libido, chronic fatigue syndrome, lupus, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy.

These conditions are caused by prolonged chronic dehydration. They will clear up once the body becomes well and regularly hydrated. In these conditions, exercising one's muscles should be part of the treatment program.

"Bad Cholesterol": A Myth and a Fraud!

We in the medical profession, totally oblivious of the vital roles of cholesterol in the body, have been duped into thinking that it is this substance that causes arterial disease of the heart and the brain. The pharmaceutical industry has capitalized on the slogan of "bad cholesterol" and has produced toxic-to-the-body chemicals that minimally lower the level of cholesterol in the body and in the process cause liver damage to thousands of people, some who die as a result of using the medication.

It is surprising that none of the frequently quoted and media-popularized doctors has reflected on the fact that cholesterol levels are measured from blood taken from the veins, yet nowhere in medical literature is there a single case of cholesterol having caused obstruction of the veins. Venous blood moves far slower than arterial blood and thus would be more inclined to have cholesterol deposits if the assumption of "bad cholesterol" were accurate. This mistake by us in the medical community, and its capitalization by the pharmaceutical industry, has caused an ongoing fraud against society.

In truth, the so-called "bad" cholesterol is actually far more beneficial than is appreciated. The reason for its rise in the body is because of complications caused by chronic unintentional dehydration and insufficient urine production. Dehydration produces concentrated, acidic blood that becomes even more dehydrated during its passage through the lungs before reaching the heart - because of evaporation of water in the lungs during breathing. The membranes of the blood vessels of the heart and main arteries going up to the brain become vulnerable to the shearing pressure produced by the thicker, acidic blood. This shearing force of toxic blood causes abrasions and minute tears in the lining of the arteries that can peel off and cause embolisms of the brain, kidneys and other organs. To prevent the damaged blood vessel walls from peeling, low-density (so-called "bad") cholesterol coats and covers up the abrasions and protects the underlying tissue like a waterproof bandage until the tissue heals.

Thus, the vital, life-saving role of low-density cholesterol proves this substance is of utmost importance in saving the lives of those who do not adequately hydrate their bodies so that their blood can flow easily through the blood vessels without causing damage.

Cholesterol is an element from which many of our hormones are made. Vitamin D is made by the body from cholesterol in our skin that is exposed to sunlight. Cholesterol is used in the insulating membranes that cover our nerve systems. There is no such a thing as bad cholesterol. If all the primary ingredients are available for its normal functions, the human body does not engage in making things that are bad for its survival. Until now we did not know water was a vital nutrient that the body needed at all times - and in sufficient quantity.

Water itself - not caffeinated beverages that further dehydrate - is a better cholesterol-lowering medication than any chemical on the market. It is absolutely safe and is not harmful to the body like the dangerous medications now used. Please share this information with those you care for.

Personally I wouldnt take bentonite clay internally. I take illite clay.

From a clay website:
Uses of healing clays such as bentonite, montmorillonite, and illite ingested orally:

* To assist in the removal of toxic substances in the digestive system, both chemical and pathalogical
o Bacterial food poisoning, organic and inorganic toxicity
* To cleanse the colon and promote proper bacterial balance in the intestines
* To begin the process of detoxification of the liver
* To stimulate liver function
* As a part of short term cleansing programs used to promote good health
* Critical to support external healing clay treatment ( pelotherapy )
* Removal of heavy metals and recovery from chemical therapies and radiation
* With special long term treatments, to increase T-cell count and fix free oxygen in the blood stream
o Reduction of free radical damage ( thus anti-aging )
o Improved immune system function
o Improved cellular respiration
* Improved digestive efficiency
* Reduce food sensitivities ( the so called developed "allergies" )
* Stimulate healing by strengthening the body's general constitution

Bentonite in alternative and natural medicine...

Contraindications:

* Bentonite and other healing clays are not to be taken internally concurrently with life-sustaining prescribed medications without very careful medical supervision.
* Bentonite and other healing clays used internally in conjunction with medications or herbal programs may lessen the effects of medications without careful administration.
* Bentonite and other healing clays should not be used internally with those who currently have high blood pressure, without proper supervision and other supportive treatment.
o Use can cause a very temporary small spike in blood pressure
* Bentonite and other healing clays should not be used by those with a clinically diagnosed iron intolerance ( a rare condition ) without seeing a laboratory analysis of the clay used or blood sample monitoring.

Discuss this Topic: Internal Use of Clay Forum

Using Healing Clays Orally - Directions for Use

In order to understand how bentonite and other healing clays can be used internally, it is important to remember several facts:

1. Many cultures have used natural clays in small amounts as a part of a daily diet ( see the work of Dr. West Price DDS, Nutrition and Physical Degeneration, Price-Pottenger Nutrition Foundation ). Traditionally, many indigenous tribes utilized clayish water to prevent upset stomachs by dipping their food in clay solutions while eating. Furthermore, in some rather unique parts of the world, clay particles naturally deposited in the entire local water supply ( such as the area where the Hunzakuts live, in Pakistan ) have been consumed daily for a lifetime. People who live lifetimes in similiar locations are traditionally extremely long lived and healthy, with the clay particles being one factor of high quality water supplies that contribute to healthy living.
2. When introducing clay into the diet of an adult, there will be an adjustment period where a wide variety of brief side effects may manifest.
1. As an example, constipation may occur. Clay taken internally does not cause constipation, the overall condition of the body's elimination system is the determining factor. It is not wise to stop clay use totally if constipation occurs, as this should indicate to the individual that serious degenerative conditions are present in the digestive system.
3. Different healing clays will respond differently with different people. Every therapeutic clay and every person is unique. One person may love the clay that the next person dislikes, and vice versa.
4. Healing clay will seldom respond in synergy with unhealthy foods and an incorrect diet. For maximum benefit, both the liver and the elimination system needs to be properly stimulated.
5. When utilizing clays internally, it is equally important that the body is properly hydrated.
6. The quality of water is an important and equally unstudied element in preparing healing clays for internal use.

In a modern society, it is increasingly difficult to live a lifestyle that promotes true health. While understanding how to best utilize healing clays internally is important, we'd also like to clarify that benefit can be achieved without modifications to diet and lifestyle. However, for sustained health and maximum effect of clay, dietary considerations are extremely important.
Acclimating the Body To Healing Clays

One tablespoonful of dry clay is added and mixed with about eight ounces of quality water. The clay water should be taken on an empty stomach, preferably in the morning and/or late in the evening. Please keep in mind that clay should never come in contact with metal.

Repeat this process for three days. After the third day, abstain from clay use for four days. Then, resume use for four days, and pause for the following three days. This method of use can be continued throughout the adjustment period ( or even the complete period of use ).

The period of time it takes the body to adjust to oral clay use is certainly variable. However, generally the body will be acclimated to use within two to four weeks.

Once the body adjusts to clay use, there are many different strategies that can be used, depending on the need.

Side effects such as constipation are byproducts of a digestive system that is functioning far below ideal levels. Healing clays in themselves do not cause digestive or elimination problems, as we've demonstrated on more than one occasion with relatively high amounts of clay water ( 1 - 2 liters daily ) taken for upwards to six months ( experimental treatments ), with no need for any additional fiber or laxatives. Elimination problems are symptomatic, and it may take a minimum of six months to a year with proper diet and clay use, to correct imbalances.

However, many users will find that a quality psyllium tusk / water mixture will assist alleviating any difficulties experienced during treatment. The best method remains following the sage guidance from Raymond Dextreit as outlined in his book Earth Cures. Truly, there are no shortcuts to a healthy digestive system, and a modified macrobiotic diet devised in accordance to the many principles of natural medicine is the only certain way to completely normalize digestive functions.

Stimulating the body's elimination system is an important part of all aspects of pelotherapy. We cannot stress enough the importance of utilizing therapeutic clay baths in conjunction with healing clays used internally, and vice a versa. While this may be impractical for some, we highly encourage those who are able to acquire larger amounts of clay to do so -- even if the clays utilized for baths are only technical grade clays.

It has been proven that slightly acidic water alkalizes the body.

So does somewhat alkaline water thus acidify the body ?

Just bacause water is alkaline does that necessarily make the body alkaline too ?

I am no expert and unfortunately the alkaline authors all disagree with each other!

Particularly on what foods to eat or not to eat!

Robert Young and others say plenty of good live water rather than dead water.Thats probably a better way of thinking about it than the word akaline. Cousens talks about structured water.

If you are sick you are dehydrated and acidic.

Dangers of Dehydration - And The Importance of Kidney Cleansing by Andreas Moritz

The human body is composed of 75 percent water and 25 percent solid matter. To provide nourishment, eliminate waste and regulate all the functions in the body, we need water. Most modern societies, however, no longer stress the importance of drinking water as the most important ``nutrient'' among all nutrients. Entire population groups are substituting water with tea, coffee, alcohol and other manufactured beverages. Many people don't realize that the natural thirst signal of the body is a sign that it requires pure, plain drinking water. Instead, they opt for other beverages in the belief that this would satisfy the body's water requirements. This is a false belief.

It is true that beverages such as tea, coffee, wine, beer, soft drinks and juices contain water but they also contain caffeine, alcohol, sugar, artificial sweeteners or other chemicals that act as strong dehydrators. The more you drink these beverages, the more dehydrated you become because the effects they create in the body are exactly opposite to the ones that are produced by water. Caffeine containing beverages, for example, trigger stress responses that have strong diuretic effects (causing increased urination, at first). Beverages with added sugar drastically raise blood sugar levels, which uses up large quantities of cellular water, too. Regular consumption of such beverages results in chronic dehydration, which is a common factor in every toxicity crisis.

There is no practical or rational reason to treat an illness (toxicity crisis) with synthetic drugs or even with natural medications and methods unless the body's need for hydration has been met first. Drugs and other forms of medical intervention can be dangerous for the human physiology largely because of their dehydrating effects. Most patients today are suffering from ``thirst disease,'' a progressive state of dehydration in certain areas of the body. Unable to remove toxins from these parts due to insufficient water supply, the body is faced with the consequences of their destructive effects. The lack of recognition of the most basic aspects of water metabolism in our body can be held responsible for seeing a disease when it really is the body's urgent cry for water.

Recognizing Dehydration

Those who have lived for many years without proper water intake are the most likely to succumb to the build-up of toxins in the body. Chronic disease is always accompanied by dehydration and, in many cases, caused by dehydration. The longer a person lives on a low water ration and/or on a high ration of stimulating beverages or foods, the more severe and long lasting is the toxicity crisis. Heart disease, obesity, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, stomach ulcers, hypertension, cancer, MS, Alzheimer's, and many other chronic forms of disease are precipitated by years of ``body drought.'' Infectious agents such as bacteria and viruses cannot thrive in a well-hydrated body. Drinking enough water is therefore one of the most important preventives for any disease.

People who do not drink enough water or unduly deplete their body's water reserves through overstimulation for a period of time gradually lower the ratio of the volume of water that exists inside the cells to the ratio of volume of water that is found outside the cells. Under dehydrated conditions, the cells may lose up to 28% or more of their water volume. This certainly undermines all cellular activities, whether they occur in skin cells, stomach cells, liver cells, kidney cells or heart cells. Whenever there is cellular dehydration, metabolic waste products are retained, causing symptoms that resemble disease but in truth are nothing but signs of disturbed water metabolism. Since more and more water begins to accumulate outside the cells, the dehydration may not be apparent to the afflicted person; he may in fact notice that he retains water, leading to swelling of his legs, feet, arms and face. Also his kidneys may begin to hold on to water, markedly reducing urinary secretion and causing retention of harmful waste material. Even the enzymes and proteins living in the dehydrated cells become so inefficient that they are no longer able to recognize the dehydrated state of the body; they fail to set off the ``thirst alarm.''

Demetria, a 53-year-old Greek woman consulted me to find relief for a painful condition of gallbladder disease. Her skin was dark gray, indicating a high concentration of toxins in her liver and throughout her body. Seeing how dehydrated (and swollen) her body was, I offered her a glass of water. She said: ``I never drink water, it makes me sick!'' I told her that her natural thirst signals no longer worked because of cellular dehydration and that without drinking water her body could not return to balance. Any water she would drink would instantly be used to remove some of the toxins lurking in her stomach, giving rise to nausea. In her case, any other therapy than drinking water would have been a waste of time and money.

A dehydrated person may also suffer from lack of energy. Due to the shortage of water inside the cell the normal osmotic flow of water through the cell membrane becomes disrupted or severely disturbed. Like in a stream, the movement of water into the cells generates ``hydroelectric'' energy, which is subsequently stored in form of ATP molecules (the main source of cellular energy). Normally, the water we drink keeps the cell volume balanced and the salt we eat maintains the balanced volume of water that is held outside the cells and in circulation; this generates the right osmotic pressure necessary for cellular nourishment and energy production. During dehydration, this basic process is undermined.

The Pain Connection

Another major indicator of dehydration in the body is pain. In response to increasing water shortage, the brain activates and stores the important neurotransmitter histamine, which directs certain subordinate water regulators to redistribute the amount of water that is in circulation. This system helps move water to areas where it is needed for basic metabolic activity and survival (from drought). When histamine and its subordinate regulators for water intake and distribution come across pain-sensing nerves in the body, they cause strong and continual pain. These pain signals, as they manifest, for example, in rheumatoid arthritis, angina, dyspepsia, low back problems, neuralgia, migraine, and hangover headaches, etc., are necessary to alert the person to attend to the problem of general or local dehydration.

Taking analgesics or other pain relieving medications such as antihistamines or antacids can cause irreversible damage in the body. They not only fail to address the real problem (which may be dehydration) but they also cut the connection between the neurotransmitter histamine and its subordinate regulators such as vasopressin, Renin-Angiotensin (RA), prostaglandin (PG), and kinins. Although the action of the pain killing drugs can relieve local pain for a while, they nevertheless stop the body from knowing the priority areas for water distribution, adding confusion to all its functions. Antihistamines -- also known as allergy drugs - effectively prevent the body's histamines from ensuring balanced water distribution.

In addition to jeopardizing the water regulating mechanisms, after reaching a certain pain threshold, painkillers become ineffective because the brain takes over as a direct center for monitoring pain perpetuation (unless of course the body is hydrated again). If the body produces pain out of its own accord (not caused through an injury), this should first be interpreted as a cry for water. The use of painkillers, which suppress this cardinal signal of chronic and local dehydration in the body and which ``short circuit'' its emergency routes, sabotages waste elimination and sows the seeds of chronic illness.

There is enough documentation to show that these drugs can have fatal side effects. They can cause gastrointestinal bleeding, killing thousands each year. Yet the body's natural pain signals are perfectly normal responses to an abnormal situation, which may be simple dehydration. In the case that a pain is simply unbearable, the use of painkillers, however, may be unavoidable. At the same time, the pain-afflicted person should drink plenty of fresh water and discontinue all energy-depleting factors, as these tend to have a strongly dehydrating effect.

``Body Drought'' - the Strongest Form of Stress

Our brain, working round the clock, requires more water than any other part of the body. Under normal conditions, it contains about twenty percent of all the blood that circulates through the body. It is estimated that brain cells consist of 85 percent water. Their energy requirements are not only met by metabolizing glucose (simple sugar), but also by generating ``hydroelectric'' energy from the water drive through cell osmosis. The brain depends greatly on this self-generated source of energy to maintain its complex processes and efficiency.

Water deficiency in the brain tissue cut downs its energy supply and thereby depresses many of its vital functions - hence the word depression. With a low level of brain energy, we are unable to meet our personal and social challenges and subsequently succumb to fear, anxiety, anger and other emotional problems. We may feel drained, lethargic, stressed and depressed. The chronic fatigue syndrome, which is commonly known as M.E., is mainly a symptom of progressive brain dehydration and subsequent retention of metabolic toxins in the brain. The syndrome may disappear on its own when the afflicted person stops stimulating the brain with caffeine, tobacco, drugs, animal products, etc., and begins a consequent program of re-hydrating the body.

The Stress Response

When dehydrated, the body has to put up the fight of a lifetime -- similar to the one experienced in a ``fight or flight'' situation. The body meets a crisis situation by mobilizing several powerful hormones, including adrenalin, endorphins, cortisone, prolactin, vasopressin, and Renin-Angiotensin (RA).

Endorphins, for example, help us to withstand pain and stress and allow the body to continue most of its functions. Cortisone orders the mobilisation of stored energies and essential raw materials to supply the body with energy and basic nutrients during the crisis. In other words, this hormone allows the body to literally feed off itself. This in itself is a very stressful and damaging situation for the body and is expressed by such emotions as, ``I can't cope anymore'' or, ``I feel this is eating at me.'' Many patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis, MS or other degenerative diseases take cortisone drugs, which often give them a boost of energy and morale for a relatively short period of time.

The ``success'' of the drug, however, only lasts as long as there are still reserves left in the body that can be mobilized for energy and nutrient distribution. Once the body has used up its emergency reserves the organism can barely function anymore and the symptoms of disease become worse than ever.

Constriction of blood vessels

When the cells in the body are under-supplied with water, the brain's pituitary gland produces the neurotransmitter vasopressin, a hormone that has the property of constricting blood vessels in areas where there is cellular dehydration. During dehydration, the quantity of water in the bloodstream is reduced. Vasopressin, as its name suggests, squeezes the vascular system, i.e., the capillaries and arteries, to reduce their fluid volume. This maneuver is necessary to continue having enough pressure to allow for a steady filtration of water into the cells. This gives vasopressin a hypertensive property. High blood pressure is a common experience among people who are dehydrated (for more information on hypertension and heart disease, see chapter 8). A similar situation occurs in the liver's bile ducts, which begin to constrict in response to restricted availability of water. Gallstone formation is a direct result of dehydration.

A person who drinks alcohol suppresses the secretion of vasopressin and thereby increases cellular dehydration (if alcohol consumption is excessive, cellular dehydration may reach dangerously high levels). To survive the body ``drought,'' the body has to secrete ever more stress hormones, among them the addictive endorphins. With regular consumption of alcohol, meaning every day for several years, dehydration increases even further and endorphin production becomes an addictive habit. This may lead to alcoholism, a disease that has devastating consequences on a person's personal and social life.

Water Retention and Kidney Damage

The Renin-Angiotensin (RA) system is activated when there is a water shortage in the body. This system is used to direct the body to hold on to water wherever possible. It instructs the kidneys to inhibit urination and tightens the capillaries and the vascular system, particularly in areas that are not as vital as the brain and the heart muscles. At the same time, it stimulates an increase in the absorption of sodium (salt), which helps the body to retain water. Unless the body returns to its normal level of hydration, the RA system remains activated. But this also means that the pressure of the blood against the walls of the blood vessels remains abnormally high, causing the damage that is known as cardiovascular disease.

Hypertension and the retention of urine in the kidneys lead to kidney damage. Conventional treatments for this condition consist mostly of diuretic (urine forming) drugs and restricted salt consumption. Both may have severe drawbacks. Diuretic drugs, which are used to normalize the blood pressure, as well as reduced salt intake strongly undermine the body's emergency efforts to save the little water it has left for cell functions. The resulting stress response causes a further increase in dehydration and the vicious cycle is complete. There are so many kidney replacements made today that result from chronic dehydration, caused by something as simple as not drinking enough water or overstimulation of the nervous system.

The Caffeine and Alcohol Drama

The caffeine contained in such beverages as tea, coffee, cacao or colas not only stimulates the central nervous system and immune system but also acts as a strong diuretic. For every cup of coffee or tea you drink you relinquish approximately three cups of water, which the body cannot afford to give up without suffering damage. The caffeine containing cola beverages work in a similar way. Caffeine, being a nerve toxin, stimulates the body's stress hormones and triggers a strong immune response that may give a person the (false) impression that his level of energy and vitality has suddenly increased. To remove the nerve toxin caffeine, the body has to come up with extra water, which it takes from its cells. Hence there is an occurrence of cellular dehydration.

Caffeine, which is a major component in most soft drinks, removes water from the body faster than the body can absorb it again, thereby generating constant thirst. People, who frequently take soft drinks, can never really quench their thirst because their bodies continually and increasingly run out of cellular water. There are college students who drink as many as 10-14 cans of cola a day. Eventually, they confuse their bodies' never-ending thirst signal with hunger and they begin to overeat, causing swelling and excessive weight gain. Apart from its diuretic action and its addictive effects on the brain, regular caffeine intake overstimulates the heart muscles, causing exhaustion and heart disease.

Alcohol has a similar diuretic effect as caffeine containing beverages. For every glass of beer, for example, the body is forced to sacrifice about three glasses of water. A hangover results when due to alcohol abuse the brain suffers severe dehydration. If this occurs repeatedly, a large number of brain cells become damaged and die. Many important brain functions slow down or become depressed. Recovery is possible to a certain extent if alcohol consumption is discontinued.

Kidney Stones

The main functions of the kidneys are to keep the blood pure and healthy and maintain proper fluid balance in the body. To accomplish this difficult feat, the kidneys constantly monitor normal blood volume and filter from the blood the right quantity of urine to keep it balanced. There are many influences that can disrupt this mechanism and cause congestion in the kidneys. They include overstimulation, dehydration, fatigue, overeating, gallstones, blood pressure disturbance, medical or narcotic drugs, vitamins, digestive disorders, etc. When the kidneys are incapable of sufficiently separating the urine from the blood, part of the urine continues to circulate throughout the body, depositing urinary waste products in the blood vessels, joints, tissues, and organs. Skin diseases, strong body odor, sweating of palms and feet, water retention, intestinal swelling, high blood pressure, etc. are all signs of toxic blood caused by crystals and stones in the kidneys.

Stones in the kidneys begin as tiny crystals and can eventually become as large as an egg. The tiny crystals are too small to be detected by X-rays and since they do not cause pain, they are rarely noticed yet they are big enough to block the flow of liquid through the tiny kidney tubules. Crystals or stones are formed in the kidneys when urinary constituents, which normally in solution, are precipitated. Precipitation occurs when these particles occur in excessive amounts or when urine becomes too concentrated. The crystal particles or stones are usually full of sharp angles, which may cut and wear away the inner surface of the urinary canal (ureter) during their passage from the kidneys to the bladder. This causes severe pain in the loins or lower back. There may even be blood in the urine, pain running down the legs, numbness in the thighs and a difficulty in passing urine.

Most crystals or stones originate in the kidneys, although some may also be formed in the bladder. If a large stone enters a ureter, urine flow becomes obstructed. This can lead to serious complications, such as kidney infection or kidney failure.

Why The Need For A Kidney Cleanse?

The kidneys make a tremendous effort in trying to keep the body clear of toxic substances such as lead, cadmium, mercury and other impassable pollutants. They also maintain fluid and electrolyte balance and regulate the pressure from the heart that forces the blood through their filtering system. Kidney stones greatly impair this ability, which consequently increases the amounts of heavy metals and raises the body's general level of toxicity. This can lead to infection, high blood pressure, heart disease, brain disorders, cancer and many other diseases.

The following signs indicate the presence of crystals and stones in the kidneys or bladder: A dark or whitish color under the eyes; puffy or swollen eyes, particularly in the morning; deep wrinkles under and around the eyes; tiny whitish, tan-colored or dark lumps under the eyes, which can be felt or made visible when stretching the skin outwards towards the cheekbones; overlapping of the skin of the upper eyelid; chronic pain in the lower back; swelling of feet and legs; constant fear or anxiety.
There are a number of herbs that can effectively dissolve kidney stones within a period of 20-30 days (see the updated kidney cleanse protocol in the book The Amazing Liver & Gallbladder Flush (www.ener-chi.com); you can purchase the herbs from The Present Moment Herbs and Books in Minneapolis, tel. 800-378-3245 (ask for the ``Moritz Kidney Tea'') or other herb stores. Whether someone has been diagnosed as having kidney stones or not, doing a kidney cleanse once or twice a year produces tremendous curative and preventive benefits. The kidney cleanse not only improves physical health but also reduces stress, fear and anxieties.

Obviously I dont know anything about the product mentioned but shows some people are taking dehydration seriously

Hydration Articles
Dehydration in Chronic Hypotension, Fibormyalgia, Lyme Disease and Arthritis
This from Dr. Paul Cheney, M.D., director of The Cheney Clinic:
```DR. CHENEY: `Drink Gookinaid's VITALYTE to Increase Blood Volume'
A study by Bell and Streeten established that the average CFS patient has only 70% of the normal blood volume. To address this, Dr. Cheney recommends drinking one quart of an electrolyte solution daily on an empty stomach. The best one he has found is VITALYTE*. VITALYTE is rapidly absorbed into the blood stream through the stomach lining because it is isotonic - it matches the chemical concentration of the body's fluids. When one of our local members asked Dr. Cheney about vitamin IV's, Gookinaid's VITALYTE came up again. While Dr. Cheney thinks that the IV's can be very helpful, he told her that if they are inconvenient or expensive, she could get virtually the same benefit from her regular supplements and drinking VITALYTE (this assumes that there is no problem assimilating the supplements). Because VITALYTE is absorbed so rapidly, it acts like an IV. The glucose (in VITALYTE) concerned some since it's a sugar, and sugars feed yeasts. Dr. Cheney said that it's not a concern with this product. Gookinaid's VITALYTE passes directly from the stomach in to the blood and never enters the intestinal tract where the yeast flourishes. Only fluids similar in concentration to the body's fluids are so easily absorbed. Water can cause the cells' lining in the stomach to swell and slow absorption. Also, when the pressure of the water in the stomach forces water into the blood, it dilutes the blood and, when the diluted blood passes through the kidneys, they get rid of the excess water leaving a person almost as dehydrated as before drinking the water. On the other hand, solutions that are too concentrated can pull water from the body into the digestive tract making you even more dehydrated.''
From the March 2001 issue of the Cheney Clinic Online Newsletter
*As Dr. Cheney says, VITALYTE increases blood volume without diluting your blood because it has the same concentration of glucose and critical electrolytes (especially potassium, and sodium) as blood. This means that the water, glucose and electrolytes tend to stay in your circulation, instead of being absorbed into the tissues which would cause edema or being excreted by the kidneys, which would cause frequent urination and loss of the electrolytes and water.
FIBROMYALGIA
According to physicians at the Mayo Clinic and the American College of Rheumatology, chronic pain, stiffness and extreme fatigue characterize fibromyalgia. Some patients may experience other symptoms, such as tension and migraine-like headaches, tingling, numbness and irritable bowel syndrome. A variety of things may trigger the syndrome, such as exercise, stress and physical or emotional trauma. A lack of deep, restorative sleep, known as REM sleep, is both a symptom and a trigger. In the past three years, we have found that because fibromyalgia involves dehydration and electrolyte imbalances and the resultant low blood pressure, the rapid and effective replacement of the water and electrolytes gives a great deal of relief to the fatigue, lassitude and muscular pain. This is why VITALYTE has been so effective in alleviating symptoms and helping so many sufferers to become much more functional again.
LYME DISEASE
Lyme disease is caused by a spiral bacterium transmitted by the black-legged deer tick and the flu-like symptoms can include fatigue, headache and stiff neck, fever, malaise, muscular and arthritis-like pains in the joints and swollen lymph nodes, as well as a characteristic circular or ``bulls-eye'' erythema that usually appears three to ten days after infection. If treated early enough with antibiotics most people recover completely, but some will have prolonged symptoms, especially the fatigue, malaise and muscular and joint pains. Some people will develop chronic, severe and disabling malaise, fatigue, musculoskeletal pains, neurologic and even cardiac disease. A large number of people are reporting that VITALYTE helps greatly reduce early flu-like symptoms and provides relief from the prolonged symptoms of the flu so that they are much more functional. This should make sense when you consider the ways in which VITALYTE relieves similar symptoms of flu, chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia. If you or someone you know is suffering from Lyme Disease, it should be worth giving VITALYTE a try.
ARTHRITIS
I've had arthritis for more than twenty years (it runs in the family) and have developed osteoarthritis in my knees (from a combination of poor mechanics and running too many marathons) and have noticed that both give me less trouble when I'm well-hydrated with VITALYTE. I've even made a point of drinking some VITALYTE if I notice that they are giving me more trouble than usual ... but, I never gave this much thought until our customers started telling us that VITALYTE reduced arthritis pain and increased joint flexibility. This too makes sense when you consider that as you lose blood volume, you become dehydrated. The first parts of your body to lose fluids will be your extremities, and the joints of your fingers, hands, feet and toes are going to suffer first ... and, if you do a search on the web for the conditions in this section, you'll find them grouped with ``arthritis''; different causes, perhaps, but similar results ... and an imbalance of electrolytes and dehydration at the core. VITALYTE can help maintain the synovial fluid in those joints to keep them functioning better with far less pain. Once again, it certainly won't hurt to give VITALYTE a try ... it could provide the help you are looking for.
Lots of good info. I'll have to re-read it again.
I can't argue that drinking enough water is important. I heard a special military doctor say that we really need to drink 8 cups of water a day (64 oz.). He said that most people are dehydrated. I guess the discussion was in regards to soldiers in Iraq but it's quite hot where I live. It's really important to replace fluids that we may lose from sweating. 4 liters is about 135 oz. which is double what the military doctor suggests. It's a bit much.
I'm not sure about the acid/alkaline thing. There's conflicting research about that. I'll have to consider it further.
I was in Iceland & the water there is wonderful. The life-span is also quite high.
I can't agree with Dr. Young's tick bite theories. Our immune system is tampered with before we are even allowed to consent what we want or not. It's not as if most people did not get vaccinated, exposed to chemical toxins, & loaded with mercury tainted fillings.
Maybe in a perfect world our bodies would protect us from pathogens... We don't live in that world, unfortunately.
