I was on diflucan for about 2 years, and then went off due to starting rifampin and started nystatin.
Never had a problem with yeast while on diflucan.
Now on the nystatin for a month and have a raging yeast infection. Tried increasing probiotics and increasing nystatin, plus Monistat 1 day, and I still have it. I don't eat refined sugars or a lot of carbs.
I would like to use diflucan if at all possible. I know it's not recommended with rifampin, but is it REALLY bad to take both at once, or just not recommended but can be done?
Has anyone else taken these two at the same time?
Would it be bad for bart if I took a week break from the rifampin to kill the present yeast infection with diflucan?

DIET, DIET, DIET is the key. Then, be sure to follow the 5 step plan outlined below. It was developed by my naturopath. It works.
"Successful control and elminiation of a Candida Albicans overgrowth requires a multifaceted program as described below. Failure to follow ALL the steps simultaneously will result in slow progress and will lengthen healing time significantly. The program should be tailored to the individual and must balance the need to eliminate the Candida and deprive it of its food source while insuring proper nutrition for the individual."
Five Steps to Candida Elimination:
1. You must starve it into submission by eliminating its food source.
2. You must kill it with anti-fungal herbs and supplements. [e.g....garlic, onion, caprylic acid, Pau D'Arco capsules or tea, clove, grapefruit seed extract, olive leaf extract, oil of oregano, tea tree oil, Echinacea, Goldenseal, black walnut, MSM, barberry root, uva ursi, neem leaf, biotin]
3. You must reestablish the proper balance and quantity of probiotic bacteria in the digestive tract. [...multi-strain lactobacillus acidophilus and bifidus capsules with FOS should be taken between meals to maximize repopulation of the digestive tract by beneficial bacteria.]
4. You must reestablish proper levels of all B vitamins (yeast free) and utilize other immune enhancing supplements to boost immune system function. [e.g ... B complex vitamins (yeast free), biotin, beta 1-3 glucan, colostrum, maitake mushroom, vitamins A, C, E, zinc and selenium]
5. You must cleanse and heal the digestive tract to promote proper elimination of toxins and Candida and assimilation of nutrients. [e.g...chlorophyll, MSM, omega 3 fatty acids found in flax seed and salmon oils, GLA found in borage, evening primrose and black currant oils. Pantothenic acid, digestive enzymes between meals]

Thanks Lymetoo. Just ran out of Theralac, so taking Jarrow. Probiotics upset my stomach for some reason though, so I "forget" to take them as often as I should. Not anymore though!!
Yes, I don't eat many carbs as it is, but I suppose I will cut them all out for a little while. Bummer.
Anyone tried any natural suppositories or douches? I have heard you can put tea tree oil on a tampon or do a GSE douche... anyone done this?
I know this is gross... sorry. I just need to be able to do something for the immediate issue :/

Someone here posted about using boric acid for suppositories. You make them yourself with empty capsules. You can get the capsules at the health food store.
OH>>> I think it's "Back in St. Olaf" who knows about that. Swears by it.
Contact her if you need to!!
Theralac is good! Maybe you could also add this one:
Boric acid is a good idea. The kind I have here has a picture of a giant roach on the front, LOL! Got it from Home Depot a long time ago for bugs. I think I will get some new, just in case
That probiotic looks interesting too. Haven't heard of that one before.
I think I will try the Rifampin and Diflucan together for a few days or a week until I can get it better under control. Good to know that your LLMD seems to be good with that, Hezzer.
Also, just tried my own concoction of natural stuff. I will post later if it seems to help.

I just started Diflucan yesterday for a yeast infection and I am on rifampin as well. My LLMD told me it was OK to take them together (I space out the doses so they are not at the same time). Hope this helps.

I've used plain yogurt (like Stonyfield Farm) as a douche and it actually got rid of a yeast infection by itself.
I used 4 or so times a day for about 3 days and that did the trick.
