has anyone used this for lyme or babesia? I have read that it can be used for malaria as well as viruses. I couldn't find much about it when I searched the board though.

Methylene blue was identified by Paul Ehrlich about 1891 as a successful treatment for malaria.
It disappeared as an anti-malarial during the Pacific War in the tropics, since American and Allied soldiers disliked its two prominent, but reversible side effects: turning the urine green, and the sclera (the whites of the eyes) blue.
Interest in its use as an anti-malarial has recently been revived,[8] especially due to its low price. Several clinical trials are in progress, trying to find a suitable drug combination.
Initial attempts to combine methylene blue with chloroquine were disappointing;[9] however, more recent attempts have appeared more promising

Also curious is the fact that this is the --only--reference to "neurobabesiosis" i can find anywhere, as well as an admission that it's incurable with conventional treatments.

It's an interesting story, although I have no idea who the heck this guy is and what experience he has. Seems to be a naturopath in Thailand?
I know it's really a random reference, but found it interesting that he was using this substance to help a woman with ALS, along with other natural antivirals like lysine at high doses.
I was actually just looking for info on viruses in the spinal cord when I ran across this, then looked into methyl blue a bit more.
A bit disturbing that it could turn your eye whites blue, although everything I've read so far says it's completely non-toxic.
Would love to hear if anyone knows more about this stuff.

do a search here on methylene blue...awhile back there was a big ongoing discussion on this...i think this is used in aquariums, right?
anyway the thread was very interesing with a lot of good info

It is used as a fish fungacide in aquariums, and I think some people used that form for treatment also.
I do not remember if it worked or not. I think the Blue eye thing would be kind of cool for Halloween, but hard to explain.

ya beat me to the post...i am curious about this as well. i have a friend who has parkinsons and asked me about natural treatments .while surfing i found a tiny bit of info on this. there was even a post on micheal j fox's site.
i think its another thing that could have some promise but with no financial gain ...no intrest from the "medical" humans.
hope more folks post, if you know anyone who has taken it for parkinsons and wouldn't mind posting or pm me that would be appreicated.
can't help but wonder if it would be helpful for us with the neurological end of things. thanks for creating the thread.
