The lymph nodes in my neck keep swelling. It is extremely uncomfortable. I have been taking Advil and using warm compresses to reduce swelling.

My question is:

Can swollen nodes in the neck get so big that they close off the airway?

It feels like fingers digging into my throat, and it's starting to freak me out.

I have been getting it off and on over the last week or so. Are they swollen because the Rx is working and killing off the bacteria?

Or, are they swollen because the Rx is not working and they are filling with bacteria?

I seriously hate lyme.

I would not take Advil or any anti-inflammatory. Its really important that you do some research on the immune system and how taking medicine effects it. The inflammatory response is the immune system working-- if you take an anti-inflammatory...then it stops the immune response. Regardless of whether it is directly from the abx, swollen glands mean the immune system is fighting something so it is killing bacteria. Look up some good detox methods, for your lymphs and focus on those to help with the symptoms.

I think you should be ok. I also have sensitive lymph glands in my neck, under my arms and in my parotid glands. They are flaring right now and I am not sure why.

Thank you for the advice. I have been drinking lots of water with fresh lemon juice.

In addition, I have started dry skin brushing. I'm a week in. My skin has gotten smoother already, but what I'm really hoping for is some good detox enhancement.

If the lymph nodes swell, toxins cannot get out and nutrients cannot get in.

It is not a good situation. You may want to get some lymphatic drainage by someone trained in it. Most good massage therapists are familiar with it. It is not a massage, but involves very gentle feathering touches in the area to drain the toxins/neurotoxins.

Any naturopathic clinic should be able to point you to someone who does it. It is very difficult to get well, if the toxins can's find their way out.

You may want to Do a search here - there are several threads where people report their experiences.

Take care.

GiGi,

I've never heard of this. Thanks for the information.

I have read that swollen nodes are a symptom of bartonella...which I have.

Thanks so much.

Lymph massage is very useful and a good L.M. therapist can teach you how to drain yourself.

Maybe you are taking a combo of drugs that cyst busts bartonella faster than you are killing it off and that is causing the flare.

So then when the nodes swell, are they full of active bacteria or the die-off? I'm guessing the die-off, right?

I'm only on one drug. I had been on Doryx and just switched to Cefzil. The nodes are not constantly swollen, but they swell on and off.

One day might be fine, the next they swell, go down, swell, go down.

I'll look into lymph massage. Not sure if insurance covers it.

Bouncing on a re-bounder can help with lymph drainage.

Swollen lymph nodes are a sign of a toxic body. Any and all toxins.
