I'm extremely itchy-every part of my body itches-I'm scratching my stomach head and arms as I am typing and reading here on Lymenet. It is driving me nuts. I read somewhere that itching is from the Lyme. Is there something that can make it better.
I know it's not an allergy-unless I became allergic to amoxy within the last two weeks lol. Because that is the only thing I added back to my medicines, the only thing different.
Ah!!! Does baths with that itchy bath stuff work. I can't remember the name of it. Maybe something about oatmeal? Geez-my brain took the morning off today.

I was so itchy to! My family dr seemed suprised by that. I just was dx june 14th so im really new to all this but I took a allery pill claritn or benadryl when I was beyond itchy it would last for a hour or two and the benadryl allergy ointment was the only cream that helped It would only dull the itch I also found that tight clothing such work out pants and a tight long sleeve shirt helped so much!

littlebit27, make sure your doctor knows you are experiencing this. Itchiness can be a sign of an allergic reaction.
You can become allergic to a medicine at any time. I had this happen after taking a medicine for months.

Oh I've been itchy for months. It started way before I had any more symptoms or a DX. I don't have a rash or anything. Just itchy. I'm like 95% sure it is not an allergic reaction.

Aveeno has a great oatmeal bath product that helps with itching from allergies, poison ivy, etc. It might relieve some of your itching until you can speak with a doctor about the cause.

I just discovered a new natural product this past week that got rid of the itchiness of a rash I had/have. It's not inexpensive, about $37.00 or so/bottle, but it seems to last a long time. It has a very fine spray top that gives good coverage without using a lot w/each spray. I've used quite a bit, but when I checked the level in the bottle, it's a lot higher than I expected it to be.
The active ingredient, terpinen-4-ol, is found in a weed/herb called: Trichostema lanatum, commonly known as Blue Curl. The same essential oil is also found in Tea Tree oil. However, this product doesn't have the same strong smell of tea tree oil, which I've tried and didn't like.
I believe it has a couple of other ingredients in it as well. It took about 1/2hr to 1 hr after applying for the itching to stop, but when it did, the effect lasted for several hours.
In my experience, it was as or even more, effective, as some topical steroidal creams. My friend who introduced it to me said that a woman he works with was using it on acne and her skin is really clearing up.
Anyway, I just thought I'd mention it, in case your interested in trying it.

Hm - are you chemical sensitive? Could your skin be reacting to anything you're touching? You could test this by elimination, if you can get yourself to a nonitchy state and them start adding contact with anything, including clothes.
If it's going to involve contact with clothes, you might want to get as nonallergenic a detergent as possible for them. But first you have to see if that's part of the problem or not.
I am very chemical sensitive and so will itch upon contact with many things.
I've read that our mast cells can be overreacting. My LLMD would like me to be taking ketotifen pills to quiet down a possible mast cell response. Just started recently, don't have anything to report yet.

LOL today I'm not itchy at all...and have clothes on that were washed in the same load on. I've read a lot of Lyme patients are itchy-I can't remember where I read it, shoot!
Like cancer can make your skin itchy all over-it's a symptom. I read somewhere the same thing about Lyme.

My daughter has suffered with this symptom for YEARS!! It used to be her legs, and now it has moved to her upper back and shoulders.
We could never figure out what the problem was until we had our first appt. with our LLMD. She has had lyme for ten years and now all of her symptoms make sense.
It has caused a lot of scarring, but we do the best we can to manage it. It makes me so sad.

I take gabapentin 200mg 4 times a day for itching it helps a lot because it calms down the nerves.

I use lemon juice followed by a rinse and then apply coconut oil.
What ever it is it stops it for quite a while and you can reapply as needed.
I even lather up the scalp and let it sit and then wash.
You can look with a micromagnifying glass to see if its morgellons. You won't be able to see it with reg. magnification.
They sell them at wally world---it is the one with the micro circle inside the reg. mag. glass.
