I would like to hear about people who did/do IVIG with ABs.
A neurologist told me, she never gave IVIG when somebody is taking ABs.

I would like to know what happens when somebody is taking ABs with IVIG.

What would you be taking the IVIG for? What condition?

By ABs, you mean antibiotics?

I'm looking at having to do IVIG and no one has said anything about NOT taking abx at the same time.

I have serious polyneuropathy with axon loss and joint degeneration.
Now I'm doing Bicillin LA and I would like to add Malarone and Azithromycin.

I really want to start IVIG because this is my only hope for neuropathy but I'm afraid of stopping antibiotics.

I have not heard of anyone stopping their abx for IVIG for neuropathy issues. What do the doctors say?

I am also on a message board for PANDAS. PANDAS is an autoimmune disorder caused by a bad reaction to strep, found primarily in children, and treated with antibiotics and IVIG. For this condtion antibiotics and IVIG are often given at the same time, and I haven't read once about a concern about using them together. By the way, I know at least one lyme doctor thinks many lyme patients also have PANDAS.

My husband started IV antibiotics and IVIg within two weeks of each other. He had failed oral antibiotics prior to this. The herx from the IVIg and IV antibiotics was very strong and he discontinued the IV antibiotics for three months while he continued monthly IVIg. After three months, he added the IV antibiotics back in without a problem.

Is your neurologist prescribing your antibiotics? If not, I wouldn't go into great detail about the Lyme treatment. Just get the IVIg for the polyneuropathy.

What I meant to say in my post above is that yes you can take antibiotics and IVIg at the same time. IVIg is used for serious infections and is used at the same time as antibiotics. I think your neurologist doesn't want to be treating Lyme disease he wants to treat the polyneuropathy.

Just don't start a new antibiotic and IVIg at the same time and you should be fine.

I was and am on antibiotics with IVIG. And I have changed and will probably change again while on IVIG. There has been absolutely no contraindication mentioned whatsoever by my LLD, who is a neurologist, who also prescribes my antibiotics AND the IVIG.

Sickpuppy,Bewell,Michael,Parisa,Tracy,
Thank you so much for the answer.
I haven't asked my LLMD about this, and my neurologist is not LL.
