In addition to all my other maladies, I woke up today and found I can't open my mouth very wide. Also, my neck hurts a lot and I can barely turn my head. Any suggestions other than Tylenol and a liquid diet to get me through the weekend?
Thanks!
(Recently diagnosed- waiting to get in to see a doctor to treat me.)

I've had the same thing. I have lyme, bart, and babs. My doctor prescribed klonopin (it acts like a muscle relaxer and I could finally open my mouth alittle.
I have had bad TMJ with my lyme. Hope this helps

I hope you don't have encephalitis. Doesn't sound good. When did this start?

Did you anything yesterday to somehow injure your mouth, jaw or neck? Have a history of TMJ? Are your lymph nodes swollen? If you think that the symptoms are from inflammation try taking some ibuprofen. It can help reduce pain and inflammation, Tylenol cannot.
Can you bend your neck up and down (try to touch your chin to your chest)? Do you have a fever? Is your pain and inflammation not getting better with ibuprofen? It sounds like you may need to see a doctor. No one wants to go to the ER, especially on a weekend or holiday. Hopefully you will be able to find an open Urgent Care center.
Take care.

I did not do anything to injure it. It started this morning
I had TMJ problems 25 years ago. I had gotten kicked in the face in gym. I did exercises and ibuprofen and it eventually subsided. If feels very similar to that.
No fever. I do feel a lump in my neck that might be a swollen lymph node on the side of the jaw that hurts.
I can touch my chin to my chest, but it is painful. Pain gets a little better, but not relieved completely with ibuprofen.
I didn't think it was anything to go to the ER for. I was hoping to hold out and call my primary in the morning.
