I am so sad that my daughter also has Lyme. She had the classic bulls-eye rash. Pediatrician recognized bulls-eye rash as Lyme and wanted to perscribe 14 days of doxy. I pleaded and begged...and shared a tiny bit of my own battle with Lyme and Co. He relented and ultimately prescribed 30 days doxy. My tx has not been easy and I am worried sick about her. currently seeking pediatric LLMD as I am well aware of how non-LLMD's do not deal well with Lyme.

So sorry to hear of this Lisa.

Doc J in New Haven, Conn is a very good Pediatric LLMD.

Don't think your story will be hers.

She had the classic rash which is a blessing because you undoubtedly diagnosed it, and you can now get early treatment. Take a photo of it.

That all leads to a good ending. Plus, where you're at may not be a location for a coinfection...not like New Jersey, but keep the possibility open with the LLMD so you can address that early as well.

You are doing an awesome job!

I have two kids with Lyme and coinfections.

Hugs,

2roads

Sorry to hear this. It may be hard for her to say out of the sun this summer but I'm glad you at least got 30 days' lead time. Hope you do get into a pediatric LLMD.

I think you can be relieved to some degree that it's been a early diagnosis and that, often, children do better.

I hope she is able to take liver support to help protect her liver both from lyme toxins and the medicines that help fight the lyme but can stress the liver.

Milk Thistle is most commonly used. At times opposite antibiotics.

PROBIOTICS, too, are vital to help prevent a candida (systemic yeast infection). Probiotics should also be taken a couple hours away from Rx and from some herbs that have antimicrobial properties.

Milk Thistle Herb

Excerpt:

Dosage Recommendations

The suggested dose of milk thistle is generally 12 to 15 grams of dried herb (200 to 400 mg silymarin) per day or silymarin-phosphatidylcholine complex 100 to 200 mg two times per day.

For liver protection, 120 mg silymarin (about 2 capsules) two times per day. For liver damage from alcohol, drugs, or chemicals, the recommended dosage of silymarin-phosphatidylcholine should be increased from two times per day to three times per day.

[CHILD] Adjust the recommended adult dose to account for the child's weight. Most herbal dosages for adults are calculated on the basis of a 150 lb (70 kg) adult. Therefore, if the child weighs 50 lb (20 to 25 kg), the appropriate dose of milk thistle for this child would be 1/3 of the adult dosage.

This seems promising--could you maybe get a hold of these herbs?

St. O - Probiotics are essential for everyone.

Just take them away from Rx and from herbs unless the herbs are solely for adrenal or nervous system support (but even then they may have some antifungal action that could negate the probiotics).

Sorry to hear, but am so glad that you knew what it was and didn't put off treatment. Things could have been much worse. I'm sure she will be fine. Blessings to your family!!

Keebler- thanks

I figured as much but if you are taking like the maximum herbs on protocol, let's say over 40 pills a day, how do you find time to take the probiotics apart from them?

I think I shall stop sleeping lol
