I just wanted to add a new thread to ask you all about some advice I was given.

I am currently not receiving any care for my Late Stage Lyme. No LLMD's (or any I can afford) in MO.

As a last resort I was going to try a ID Dr. even though the horror stories I have heard, I thought maybe I could get some antibiotics.

My question is: Someone said for now "Am I taking magnesium, fish oil and turmeric?" I am not.

I currently am on several medications for several different medical issues.

I take one vitamin a day. It is Finest Natural-Women's 50+ Advanced Enriched with Omega 3-6-9. (BTW I am NOT 50 YET lol).

I would like advice from anyone that has taken these things. Why? How much? How long? What do they help?

The vitamin I began taking was because my hair was falling out. It is no longer falling out [woohoo]

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If it's working for you, I'd say keep taking that vitamin!

That said, you may also need more of certain vitamins and minerals than you are currently getting.

To help answer your specific questions:

Magnesium is KEY b/c it reduces CNS excitotoxicity issues. If you want to take the oral form of it, some LLMDs say "up to bowel tolerance". The dosage amounts differ depending on the form (citrate, sulfate, etc.) you take.

You might try a combo of two or more different brands to get those multiple forms. And/or do epsom salt baths or use topical MgCl. (note: do not get the combo of Mg and Ca, just Mg and take it away from your regular multi for that reason. Vitamin D3, if you've ever tested low on D, would be good to take with the Mg.)

If you are "twitchy", if you've been told that you have hyper reflexes, if you have palpitations, if you have restless legs, then up your magnesium.

Omega fatty acids decrease inflammation and help lower cholesterol levels (Bb uses the cholesterol pathway, so many of us have unusually high LDL levels).

Circumin, the active component of tumeric, is said to also reduce inflammation. It may be antiviral as well- different opinions on the latter. (I personally only will take Longvida brand b/c other brands upset my stomach. One caveat is that it is on the pricey side.)

Have you thought about trying Buhner's herbal protocol? I have not done it, so don't know anything about the expense of it, but others here have. Maybe you could ask for more info via another post.

If you can't see any LLMDs, at least try to find a GP (DO or MD) who will help you. Perhaps someone from your state's/local support group might be able to refer someone. Maybe you will indeed come across an ID doc who will help, who knows. I know it's hard. I'm near broke and totally get it. If at all possible though, save as much money as you fiscally can to get into a decent doc.

Not much advice on other things...just wanted to say that my hair loss decreases greatly when I'm taking iron. I imagine your vit has iron in it.
