I was diagnosed after 3 months of symptoms starting. My main symptoms are sternum tightness, heart irregularities, BP all over the place shortness of breath and lightheadedness. Sometimes everything gets really bad all at once. This all got worse after treatment. Currently on Ceftin and flagyl. After 45 days of treatment, i don't have one day symptom free although some days are better than others.

Whenever I read peoples posts, they sound nothing like mine. I have no pain, stomach issues or fatigue.

Just wanting to know if anyone has had similar symptoms?

Did you have a positive test??? Tick bite?? You're sure you have Lyme??

Are those the only symptoms you get?

Have you seen a cardiologist??

Been checked for POTS and NMH??

I've never really had pain either. I really feel this disease hit's us all so differently, almost depending on our weak areas. Just my opinion.

I have the shortness of breath and the heart irregularities too. Others will call it air hunger. My llmd does know about my heart too.

I have found too, that my symptoms do change year to year. I'm having new ones now in my second treatment after not being in treatment for 9 yrs. My first time with antibiotics there was a whole different symptom list.

Strange disease. Hope this helps you feel you're not alone with these things

Lyme, Babs, Fry Bug..... Whatever it is, may a treatment be discovered to make us all whole again!

Seems that there are different strains of these bugs which can cause different symptoms. It may depend on location. Did you contract the illness in Calgary or some place else? There are many variables.

Do you have any co-infections? Sounds like these symptoms could be a co-infection.

No two cases are the same. Trust me, you are not alone. I have heard many complain of the symptoms you mention.

I get short of breath with minimal exertion. Also, Postural tachycardia which is much better now.

So, there are two of your symptoms that I have. I know others that have BP issues and complain of chest tightness.

So many symptoms can be caused by this disease, and that leaves nothing out.

Igenex Fish for babs only can test for two strains.

There are 13+ known strains of babesia.

My Fish was negative, but based on symptoms, my LLMD has treated for babesia.

Babesia has been one of my hardest infections to treat.

Many of your symptoms sounds like my babesia symptoms.

Hugs,

Geneal

Hi Dania84:

My daughters BABs tests also came back negative. Dr. B's Advanced Topic In Lyme Disease indicates only two commercial tests of 13 known strains of a possible 24 infecting humans.

You can have Babs but still test negative. We are treating for Babs now on Mepron and Zithromax.

Our daughter was on amoxcylin and then doxy for over two months with no improvement b/e Lyme and Babs was diagnosed.

I would suspect a moderately severe Babesia infection from your most presenting symptoms.

Dania,
Yup... & this can very well be "your" Lyme marker.

My suggest?
IF by the 9th week (~day 60), you are Not any better over all than the 5th week (~day 32), ask your LLMD if an amoxicillun/ Probenecid protocol might not be something to try... considering you have chest cavity complaints here similar to mine... and amoxy tends to concentrate in the gut & chest.
This might also be considered at the 3 or 4 month mark if you Did make improvements.

But First, Dania, I'd HIGHLY recommend an "echo-cardiogram" be run on you. (It's non-invasive.)
It can show any significant inflammation around the heart, which can be dangerous... even fatal in extreme cases.
(This is one of those ways Lyme disease has been documented to kill, though this IS extremely rare.)
My echocardiogram showed a healthy heart with minimal inflammation, though my heart skips & "tightness" also increased during the 1st 2 months on abx.

Just curious... Has your doc put you on a "Holter monitor"? (You wear it overnight. It records your heart's electrical activity vs. time & can be interpreted in a lab afterwards.)

Kete-tracker: Thanks for your advice! Yes i have had the holter and it showed some extra skipped beats but nothing too alarming. I also had an echo done a couple weeks ago and he has not called me so Im assuming it was normal.

I think I might have babs and need to start treatment asap.

I've had all of your symptoms and many more. Symptoms often change over the course of time. I didn't have the terrible pain until many years into the infections.

Lots of good suggestions from others.

This sounds like it could be related to toxins. When you kill borrelia, more neurotoxins are created. Some of us have difficulty getting rid of the toxins and thus they stay in the body making us sicker. I would get on a toxin binder for borrelia and something to help escort heavy metals out of the body since killing borrelia also releases some heavy metals.

Are you on a good probiotic? You may need something for yeast.

Hope you get it figured out and feel better soon.

TerryK: That very well could be it since after i started the flagyl I got alot better and then worse again. I might just be going through a 3-4 week cycle since its been 3 weeks since my last one! This disease is so confusing.

You're not the only one with those symptoms..those were mine before I found out what was causing it.

I had weird BP..sometimes too low, then suddenly too high.
I had heart palpitations galore and my heart rate would go up to 165 for no reason at all.

I also had POTS symptoms.

Went to different cardiologists and specialists and none of them could find a cause. All my tests came back fine.. EKG, Echo, holter monitors etc..

Those symptoms have much improved for me after 2 years of abx treatment.

Can't argue with THAT!!

You could have POTS or NMH along with Lyme.
