Hi,

For the first three years of Borreliosis symptoms I had super unlimited energy like nothing I had experienced in my life. I could run almost forever and lift weights with lots of energy. I felt like superman and would go to the gym four days a week. I would also get lots of euphoria and depression and my emotions were all over the place. Life felt very dynamic, surreal and anything but bland. I also had a sex drive that was off the charts.

After about three years of the stiff neck and shaky vision the pain started to spread incrementally to my chest, jaw face, got tinnitus, vertigo, dizziness and most recently fasciculations all over my body. As soon as these other symptoms started all the energy went away and things seemed very bland and unexciting. Nothing seemed particularly exciting anymore. I started to feel fatigued a lot more and by the end of any day, rather than wanting to go out, I just wanted to lay down. I can't go to the gym anymore because I'm too tired (4 years now) and it would hurt anyway.

I'm wondering, has anyone here gotten the superman effect from Borreliosis? Super energy etc? Either in the earlier stages or at any stage?

Thanks

It sounds like bipolar disorder to me. Also known as "manic depression."

Lyme can cause this.

Please see a good psychiatrist! I think it will help you out immensely. There are many different forms that bipolar can take...it isn't always what you expect when you think of someone who is "manic/depressive." Sometimes it manifests as just more energy/productivity. Some people don't even want to go on meds because they like how good it feels.

But it's not healthy for your brain to go through that. Please see a doctor about this!

I don't have it anymore. I haven't had the high energy and all that for over 4 years now. I have the physical symptoms, which have gotten worse/spread, and I have fatigue.

Ive never gotten super high energy except occasionally after a herx. The increase in neurotoxins in your body from lyme and co-infections will decrease your energy. Are you doing anything for detox to bind the neurotoxins and are you on treatments of any kind?

Super energy? Ha. I wish.

This is a wild guess out of the blue. Could your adrenals and cortisol go into overdrive for a few years, and then get "tired" and shut down?

I did not have super energy, just the opposite; however after a year of treatment, I started having short periods of energy and then crashing with depression and major fatigue. The lyme loves the brain and caused a mood disorder.

Like Hoosier said, bipolar or other less serious mood disorders can manifest in ways that you would not expect. It might be something to look in to. My moods got so out of hand, I had to start taking a mood stabilizer.

Nope.

If that comes back, DO get evaluated for bipolar. I hope you are being treated for Lyme!

It's your cortisol levels. They are through the ROOF right now.

That can mimic symptoms of hyperthyroid.

Bipolar is just a cute word for chemical imbalance, caused by hormonal dysfunction.
