My husband had his 2nd LLND appointment today. He is now part of our Lyme family and has been diagnosed with Lyme, Bart, Babs, Erlichea.
He also has CMV, HHV6, EBV and a couple others that I can't remember.
What was really weird was that his CD57 was 587! Our LLND says it is the highest she has ever seen. She said this is much worse than having a low CD57 because it means his immune system has gone totally haywire!
She said the cells are probably deformed and are wrecking havoc.
I knew my husband was really sick, and am so glad to know that it is Lyme and Co and finally have a diagnosis. What scares me is all of the active virus' he has and this weird CD57.
Has anyone ever heard of this? With treatment has it normalized? I would love to hear from anyone with experience like this. I am scared.
Thanks!

I've never heard of this, however, I would get re-tested for the purpose of validity.
Just my personal opinion.
Sending prayers of healing to your family.

I would do a search of the archives here to see if this has been brought up before.
If it's a rare result, you might not get much response from others with that experience in this thread.
I also agree with Geneal - I would have him retested, even by a different doctor, through a different lab, to get a truly validating second opinion.

I vote for another test too. One time I had a triglyceride count of 1450 and normal is 100. When they retested it was WAY lower, but still very high. (I can't remember the count now.)
So get him tested again and do a search of the archives here. I've been here nearly 10 yrs and dont' recall anyone having that high a count on the CD57.... but then I don't read every single thread here!!

Thanks everyone! I appreciate the support. The CD57 will be re-tested next month.

Mine was 540. We have the same doctor. She said the exact same thing to me, but with less drama, as mine was the first high result she had seen.
It does come down with treatment. This is per Dr. S, on whose research and observations the CD-57 scale is based.
Don't retest if it costs you money, unless you really feel it's necessary. I wouldn't.
I have not retested, but am nearly done with treatment and feeling great.
