I started taking teasel root the other day. 2 drops the first day and 4 drops the second day- I felt quite sick (headache and spacey) after the 4 drops.
On the 3rd day I didn't take it, as I felt like the herx was still bad.
Today I took 3 drops. I'm feeling horrible. The worst part is that I'm having awful joint pain in my hands and feet. This was really much of an issue before.
Has anyone else had this? I'm really shocked that a couple of drops of this stuff could cause all this? Is increased pain a sign of herx or could the teasel be making things worse?
I never got increased pain with my bicillin shots or cowden protocol.
I'm not sure if I should stick with this or not.

I don't know anything about it, but you might also do a search as I've seen a few threads recently about teasel.

Yes, I did try a search on here. Seems that the only thing mentioned was that it either did nothing or helped a lot.
I haven't heard of it making it worse. I was just wondering if there was anyone else on here that has gone through a similar experience.

- Can you take it with a lot more water? I have taken it and really noticed nothing.
You might drop down to one drop in a glass of water. -

I herxed when first taking an herbal tincture that has Teasel in it. I can't be sure exactly what I was responding to, because there was also Lomatium and some other "killing" herbs in there, but I'm pretty sure it was the Teasel, because I had taken most of the other herbs in that blend before, aside from Teasel, without problems.
I was getting bad herx headaches, and dizzyness so bad, that I would call it vertigo, not just dizzyness.
The headaches lasted for about the first week, maybe more, as I slowly ramped up on the dosage (even 2-3 drops made me herx.....so I had to increase really slowly). But the vertigo was only there for the first couple days.
It did get better. But I was surprised at how much that stuff made me herx. If it doesn't get better within like 2 weeks, I'd stop it.....but for me, I could tell it was a herx, so I just kept sloooowly ramping up, when I felt I could.

Much, much worse on teasel. I ramped up to 4 drops in about 2 weeks time. Haven't gone past that. . it is in a rotation for me.
It really is powerful. A little is a lot.
Worth it, though. IMO.

I have "raw" teasel root from the herb store. Told I should simmer some on real low, & so made a "tea". Disgusting taste , even sweetened with honey. Not sure if it helped. Is the tincture version "better" in any way?

I think the teasel reaction was a herx for me.
I started with a single drop, per dr. instructions, and I got really sick.
When I tried again, I had an experience similar to yours, kateaton: a lot of symptoms occurred that I hadn't seen in a long time.
I stuck with it, continuing to ramp up very slowly. I'm now up to 17 drops.
I think it's definitely helping and has hit bacteria that had been hiding out in me for the past few years.
I dilute the teasel in water. I'm pretty used to the taste at this point.

The word on teasel root is that it pulls Lyme out of deep places.
You can find a lot of information on Matthew Wood and his use of it

Hello All, I'm reading a remarkable book, actually my favorite of all lyme-related books (well Stephen Buhner's book is also up there in my favorites.)
It's called, "Healing Lyme Disease Naturally; History, Analysis and Treatments" by Wolf Storl. An absolutely broad spectrum multi-dimensional view of lyme disease from an ethno-botanist and anthropologist who also happened to contract lyme disease.
Matthew Wood wrote the introduction to the book.
There is extensive writing in the middle of the book about teasel: it's history, background, symbolism, practicalities on harvesting.....it's all fascinating.
I'm taking small amounts of teasel along with the Buhner herbs and am herxing like crazy.
Slow and gentle.....
and then even slower....
peace and ease.....
