I wanted to know if someone had some experience with Plaquenil. I just got a script for that plus a combo of Zithro and Bicillin shots. This sounds like a decent approach, from what I have heard. Anyone else been down this road that could let me know how it turned out for them?

My 13 year old son is on Plaquenil, Omnicef, Biaxin and Lariam. He has Lyme and Babesia. The Plaquenil appears to have done three things so far.
a. Reduce inflammation in joints. He was on crutches and now moving quite well. Still a little inflammation but definitely improved.
b. Assist in killing Babesia. Numbers have decreased greatly.
c. Open up Lyme biofilms. I say this because all of the Lyme tests (except through Igenex) have been negative. A couple weeks after starting the Plaquenil, his Lyme test from the Health Dept. is positive on both Elisa and Western Blot.
We did have an eye exam prior to beginning the Plaquenil. This was the recommendation of our doctor to have a base line exam.
Hope that helps a little...
