My llmd has prescribed VSL#3 DS (900 billion -packets) 2xday in addition to theralac 1 -2xday, and florastor 1 2xday.
My question is has anyone else taken 2 packets (1800 billion) of VSL#3 DS a day? Is this too much? Any potential side effects that I should be aware of?
BTW I am on several abx.
Thank you all for your help!

I take usually 1/3rd packet daily. My doc prescribed 4x daily, but just so I could get a lot for a single copay.
2 packets/daily + other probiotics sound like a lot to me. I don't think there are any downsides, but not sure it's needed.

4 daily...3.6 TRILLION? Maybe just a tad excessive. Posts: 7545 | From The 5th Dimension - The Twilight Zone | Registered: Mar 2008

I wasn't aware a doctor could prescribe these? So your insurance pays for them?
I am on VSL 3 but I have to pay for them myself so I get the capsules, which is roughly 180 billion a day, I think.
No side effects, just be sure to take them while the candida is under control becaues they're pretty useless if you already have a candida overgrowth

Thank you all for your responses. I think I will try 1 packet a day in two divided doses...that will be a total of 900 billion, and see how it works.
Elizabeth, if your get a script for VSL3 DS you can check to see if your insurance will cover it.
My insurance covered a 30 day supply and my copay was $37.00...I am so happy about this!

For those who have insurance who will pay for it, and have a doctor who is friendly, ask for 4x daily, which is the maximum recommended dose. Some insurances will pay for the DS version. None pay for the regular version that I am aware of.
The pharmacist may look at you a little strangely for the 4x script, but you'll get a lot of boxes of the stuff for a single copay. $20 got me over a year's worth.

Wow, Lemon-Lyme, you saved a lot on probiotics for the year! I'll see if my insurance will cover 4 packets a day.
