For those of you who do this, how big are your needles?
My daughter's have a very tiny needle. I took some of hers and liked it enough to ask my LLMD for them.
I asked for them to be just like hers, but they came with a longer needle. I psyched myself up to do it and was ok with it, but now my new prescription came with probably a 2" needle.
I like these injections, but I haven't been able to use this giant needle yet. Does anyone else have to use these?

I've just been pinching up some skin on my leg and doing it there. My daughter's LLMD said we could give it anywhere and her needle is probably 1/2 inch.
My LLMD's haven't given me any instructions, but I showed them my daughter's prescription and asked for the same thing.
I'm guessing this long needle is for IM?
How do you do yours? Does it hurt?

I will either do it in my arm or butt but thigh is ok too. try going straight into your arm. you dont have to put the whole needle in. I have done it with a 25g as well., but I got sent these long ones. Make sure you draw back on the syring once youre in and ready to inject. If you get blood in the syringe, pull it out and do it again.
(in a diff spot) and no it doesnt bother me

Thankfully I am allergic to penicillin so no LLMD will ever want me to do those Bicillin shots.

I'm not sure but I just want to pass on my experience with b12 shots. Earlier this year my PCP ran my blood work and found I was in the low normal. She didn't know what was wrong with me at the time, so she decided to treat the low/normal b12 in case that was the problem.
I got on the shots, she sent them home with me, told me I could take it as often as I wanted because "you pee out the extra", so I was on shots for about 6 weeks. In that time I went from 470 to 1500 - off the charts. I was sick from it, even though she kept insisting there was no way I could be sick from too much b12.
It took about 2 months for my levels to get back into the normal range and low and behold when that happened those terrible symptoms I was experiencing when away.
My body might just be more sensitive than others, but I wanted to give my personal experience with the shots as a warning to those taking them... just make sure you aren't getting too much.

Mine are 25 mg and I'm supposed to do them 3x weekly.
My daughter's are 2.5 mg, 3x weekly. She is 12.
I could feel a difference even when I took my daughter's dose. I asked my LLMD for the same thing, but both times, they have written it for more.
I didn't "pee out the extra" when I took the smaller dose, but do when I take the big dose. It makes me wonder if that big dose is really necessary.
