Hi All,

Recently had lipids/testosterone tested. Came back with the following:

Cholesterol Total: 111
Triglycerides: 57
HDL: 33
LDL: 67

Testosterone: 465

I am 36. Was bit by a tick in 2005, just diagnosed this year. 2 months into treatment with Dr. H in NY. Had ups and downs so far.

But I was wondering if anyone else has these low numbers?

At 36, my testosterone is definitely low. I know that testosterone is made from Cholestoral though, and my total cholestoral, while probably looking good to a cardiologist, is a bit on the low side I think.

I would assume perhaps the Lyme is causing malabsorbtion or too much liver stress to produce enough cholestoral/testosterone.

Was just curious if others had some similar issues...

Thanks...

I had low testosterone in my mid-30's and was treated with testosterone gel. Actually, mine was even lower than yours, like 16 or 19, and that's why I was treated.

I wouldn't recommend that treatment though because I ended up growing a mustache when it shot up into the 700's on that medicine. (It was topical). I'm sure it's still low now, because I have zero sex drive.

Those levels are not necessarily too low. What time of day did you take the test? Lots of things to consider and cholesterol is just one. Sleep is also important as is addressing any mineral deficiencies.

Don't treat with T unless you want to compound matters. Give it a chance to rebound naturally, especially if you haven't treated lyme for too long.

It is also vital to assess thyroid function as well as FSH and LH levels for a better picture of what's going on.

If treatment is necessary, using HCG, or HCG and T, with an aromatase inhibitor is a better option. Clomid can work well too but only if you're not genetically predisposed to blood clots.

Herbs can be very useful here. I would go natural first before trying to back fill with all kinds of hormones that may end up not working anyway.

My cholesterol is 138 - but I am not a 20 something male. Not sure is this is really considered "low", but it is an interesting question.
