I came down with an unexplained fever and sweats in early June, and ever since have experienced a variety of symptoms specific to Lyme. A month later I pulled a tick off myself. DR gave me 10 days of amoxicillin, then my Lyme titer was negative, so that's that (as far as he's concerned).
I'm curious about my knee pain. I've had various joint pains for years, but this pain is different. I wondered if Lyme produces a certain kind of knee pain. In my case the pain doesn't seem to be in the joint itself, but closer to the surface, on the inside of the knee. The best way I can describe it is to say it feels like an inflamed nerve. I can feel something beneath the surface of the skin, possibly a bit swollen, and it hurts to the touch. Any sideways movement is bad, so I can't lie on my side in bed.

10 days AMOX is not even close to enough

Yes, sounds exactly like Lyme. My knee pain started in my right knee initially, and then progressed to both knees. Sometimes I hardly notice it (while walking it seems stiff and almost robotic)but..
When I'm herxing, it all comes back, to the point that I need to use a cane. Can't have a lot of pride with Lyme, makes you humble!! Posts: 246 | From south florida | Registered: Mar 2010

Humble----I agree, esp. when your shoulders lock up and you can't pull your pants up or down...LOL Rt arm good now. Can raise lt. 3/4 of the way...

About three years ago, my knee went from cracking to swelling to severe pain in a matter of about 2 weeks. Was diagnosed by blood and synovial fluid, with seriously positive test results-not even using Igenex! After ABX and then 6 months of physical therapy, I'm doing o.k.; have done a few rounds of ABX over the past three years since diagnosis. Hate to say it--have had more bites since then. It's almost impossible to avoid all ticks, living with a dog in the New England woods near the beach, in an endemic area. sigh. I watch for symptoms carefully, and stay in touch with LLMD.

Pippifern, you bring up something that's been nagging at me.....repeated exposure via tick bites. I've been bitten by dog- and deer-ticks for decades. No likelihood that this pattern will stop after treatment. But I wonder if our bodies fight off Lyme more effectively after we've had it?

My knee pain was so bad that i couldnt bend it to sit down. It was excruciating. It would hop from one to the next and sometimes both would be affected at the same time. I had problems with every joint in my body it seemed. Couldnt even dress myself. Used my computer chair to scoot around the house cause i couldnt walk (we have hardwood floors).
