Last month my Thyroid doctor prescribed me Prometrium to take from day 14 to 26. Last month I took it with no problems or side effects. This month I started it day before yesterday. I took it day before yesterday night and whole yesterday I had severe pain at the back of my head(to me headache means at the back of head). Yesterday night I took it and then an hour later I took magnesium and went to bed. I had to wake up at 2.30 in the middle of the night to go to the bath room then I went to the kitchen to drink some water then I felt dizzy, I had to hold on to the kitchen counter just to hod my position otherwise I would have fall on to the ground. At that time my hands were shaking, my ears were buzzing and something fell off from my hands.I was in that position for 2 or 3 minutes.
I went to bed had the buzzing in the ears, felt a little weak and then fall asleep. Now I am writing here. Is this common.
I am going to report this to my doctor today.
Thank you, Barb

I have read that this is a possible side effect of Prometrium, yes. Ask your doctor if you can switch to a transdermal form (cream). This avoids all the side effects, though it still might make you drowsy so apply it at night.
I take Prometrium with no problem but also apply some of the cream--together this solves my sleep problem.
For more info about the transdermal progest. see the works of Dr. John R. Lee ("What your doctor may not tell you about Menopause" or "Hormone balance made simple.")

Thank you. I have used ProgX (I think) before. I heard that there is a cortisol rist if we use the cream form also it will take 6 months or more to get rid off our system.
