- It may. Some of the shots contain epinephrine (a steroid that we should avoid unless in a life-threatening situation).
There are some numbing agents without epinephrine.
Anything we put on our skin can be absorbed within 26 seconds and is not a good thing for us, as you suspect. It would likely cause agitation but also make infections harder to treat. Even a little bit can throw us off.
Through Google, go to the main product manufacturer's site and find the label for the exact product you are considering. Then, whatever product you get, read the package insert to be sure.
If this is for a shot, by chance if a magnesium shot, B-12 mixed in with it will reduce the burning substantially. -

If it is labeled as only Lidocaine Hydrochloride then no it should not contain any steroids.
