Dear Borrelia Buddies,
Many weeks ago, I posted about a temporary loss of vision in my left eye. Thank you for all who responded. It put my mind at ease. You will be happy to know that Thursday was my eye exam. The doctor told me some things that I was relieved and fascinated to learn.

Worsening of one eye resulted in poor depth perception, causing clumsiness. Also, the temporary loss of vision was likely due to a drop in blood pressure. Dr. S explained that in the event of a sudden drop, eyes are not as high priority as the heart and brain. This is why there was a temporary blackout in the left eye for a few seconds. He also noted a few floaters in my eyes. Those could be the reason for those flashing lights or stars I see periodically.

He said phosphenes are another likely issue. They may cause flashing lights in the event eye muscles are stressed. School requires me to spend a lot of time on the computer, and I have not been good about taking breaks. Sometimes I am online for several hours straight doing research without taking a break. Here is a helpful link on phosphenes: http://vision.about.com/od/eyediseasesandconditions/g/Phosphene.htm .

More good news is floaters are actually very common in near-sighted people. Although they did not have the exact contact lense needed for the right eye, he was able to provide a trial pair to tide me over until a couple of weeks from now on the 26th. A reduction in these issues has been noted already! Concentrating is much easier now as well. Reading was becoming difficult even with glasses, since they needed adjusted. Unfortunately, it appears I will need to take the one college course over because there is no way getting 6 weeks of labs and papers completed by tomorrow evening is possible.

Endometriosis may be to blame for the other troubles. My father is arguing with me constantly, and I just cannot take it anymore! He has done no research at all on the topic, and insists that going organic is not necessary to correct the hormonal imbalance. He complains we cannot afford it, yet it is amazing how we can afford a carton of cigarettes costing $54 or more per week. Having a cycle coming every 10 days that is excruciatingly painful for 4 days straight on top of nausea is too much to take any longer.

I was worried I would not even make it to the eye doctor, because cramping often occurs even without bleeding. Nearly fainting when standing up has worsened during those times, so anemia is very likely. My father complains that I need to go out and get a job, yet refuses to allow me to get well. There are times I am so depressed I have virtually lost the will to live. I have vowed the $20 I still have left is going into a bank account, and I am getting my driving permit renewed, and recruiting whoever I can get to teach me to drive. This is enough!

Hoosier Healthwise has still not started coverage. If I do not hear anything by the 21st, I am calling. There are no Endo specialists here, though. You need one if surgery is necessary. At this point, Lyme is still a big question mark. The 31kDa was positive, but the 41kDa was IND at first, then confirmed as negative. Candida is present, as is gum disease. Sorry this was so long, but I wanted to cover everything in a single post.

Sincerely,
Jin
