Do any of you juice to aid with detox? I've juiced (mainly various vegetables) periodically in the past. I'm thinking of juicing only carrots at this time since they are good for the liver.

Does anyone have any helpful suggestions or veggie combos that they could share?

for years my hubby and I juiced. We juiced the following veggies together:

Carrots
Parsley (good for liver)
Beets (also good for liver)
celery
spinach (until it clogged the juicer)
swiss chard
cucumber

It was very good tasting. we just got burned out cleaning the veggies and cleaning the juicer.

Juicing just carrots may be a little too sweet - although the beets have a lot of natural sugar, too. The parsley, celery and cucumber added very nice flavor.

I juiced for 6 months a while ago; and intend to start up again. I keep putting it off!

My main juice recipe was carrots, celery, tomatoes, and 1/2 of an apple. I used enough of the veggies to make a full tall glass. Added the apple for a little natural sweetness. Sometimes I would use a whole apple. But I liked the flavor best with just the half. I like the tomatoe juice flavor alot, kind of like a bloody mary kind of taste. I added salt, pepper and garlic for flavor and turmeric, the spice for its anti-inflammatory benefit.

At first I actually didn't love the flavor but within a week, I started to loving it. I felt like I was doing something good for myself.... and would juice, then sit somewhere relaxing and enjoy!

Just make sure you keep your juicer very clean. Mine goes in my dishwasher, thank goodness.

I'm sure you can look up all kinds of juicing recipes online.

You can come up with your own special recipe!

Do you think that perhaps these are too high in sugar? Given the fact that I'm quite some antibiotics, I don't want to promote what has been called a chronic, systemic yeast infection.

Well, it never bothered me; but I was not on "high" doses of antibiotics. I think as long as you aren't taking in tons of processed sugar that this amount of natural sugar shouldn't be an issue. You could always add in an extra probiotic a day if you are concerned!

I believe that parsley is good for detox as well (which makes sense if some of us are put on nutramedix parsley drops), so I always threw that in since it has a nice mild flavor anyway.

My favorite was:

2 Carrots (enough for the nice taste but not too much since they're a little high in sugar)
3 Celery stalks
1 Cucumber
3-5 Kale Leaves (or I did 1 head of broccoli)
1 handful of Parsley

It doesn't come up with a ton of juice, which I like because at the time my gall bladder couldn't handle a ton at once. So I did this two or three times a day. I don't exactly have the strength or energy to do that right now...but I plan to do it again as soon as I do!
