My sister was recently diagnosed with Lyme and has been sick for years. She has many neuro symptoms and is often times crawling on her knees because it is too painful to walk.
Her new LLMD is suspecting she also has co-infections but tests have come back negative. Thankfully this doctor treats based on symptoms, not labs.
My question for those of you with more experience is if any of you have taken this particular combo. Your thoughts and experience are greatly appreciated.

I've never taken that combo before. Most take flagyl with drugs like Biaxin, Zith, or Ceftin as examples.
Cipro is used to hit bartonella... something your wife could have since she is having pain so bad that she can't walk.
Is that because she is having pain in her feet??? (that would be a big clue it is bart)

Cipro if for bart and also can be for stomach bacterial infections (I took it for klebsiella and citrobacter). Unusual for it to be a first round for a new Lyme diagnosis since it doesn't go after Lyme.
Flagyl is used for cystic form of Lyme. It is also commonly used for GI infections.
IMO, it's an unusual combo. The LLMD probably has his reasons for it .... I would ask about it.

This is not the typical lyme combo. Typical combos for lyme are zithromax and flagyl, amoxicillin and flagyl, etc.
The zith and amoxi kill lyme in the spirochete form and the flagyl kills it in the cyst form. This way, the lyme has no way to escape being killed.
As others have said, cipro is not generally considered a lyme drug. So, your sister is on only one drug for lyme (not good) and one drug for bartonella.
From page 12 of Burrascano Lyme Treatment Guidelines:
"Treatment of chronic Lyme usually requires combinations of antibiotics."
Read through the Guidelines and you will see the medications used to treat lyme disease.
I would certainly ask the doctor which diseases these meds are treating. Try to get the rationale for treating lyme with just a cyst buster and ignoring the more common form of lyme--the spirochete.
