In preparation for my first visit with a llmd on the 23rd, I am trying to quit smoking. (also trying to kick caffeine and get ready for all the other rules.) hardest part is that I'm already over emotional.
So I'd like to hear from anyone else who quit smoking once they had Lyme. Any suggestions appreciated!

I quit smoking after 22+ years. I was 3 years into my Lyme diagnosis when I quit. I spent many years being undiagnosed, so my lyme is now chronic.
The only way for me to quit, was to do it completely cold turkey. It will be 4 years without a cigarette in November!

I quit smoking 3-4yr ago. My lyme brain is not telling me for sure which. Anyhow, I think I already knew I had Lyme, but had not done anything about it yet.

It took over a year for me to get testing done and another couple of months to go to a doc. The anxiety was just TOO much.

I stopped cold turkey, too. Well, I say that, but the truth is that Jesus stopped for me. I had tried and tried and tried to quit and I failed over and over. Finally I said, Lord if you want me to quit, you're going to have to do it. I can't.

The next morning I never even had one urge or craving. Not until about wk 3 at which point it was very mild and oh-so-easy to resist, since I'd come so far.

I'm 31, and started smoking at 15.

Please get the book called "The Easy Way to Quit" by Allen Carr. It is totally amazing and makes quitting totally easy and painless. Just follow instructions exacactly and then don't ever experiment with "just one." There is no such thing! Good luck!
