My doc had me do the 6-hr urine challenge test with Doctor's Data Labs and I got a call from her office that my lead level was high and that I need to come in and discuss detox with her.
I have read a lot of what people have said here on the website on this subject. And I also found this info online "How the Urine Toxic Metal Test is Used to Defraud Patients".
Now I don't think that my doc is trying to defraud me in any way but what I read was concerning. I researched the doc who wrote the article and he seems to be well-respected.
I will discuss with my doc when I see her in a couple of weeks but was wondering if anybody had read this article or had any thoughts.

Well, the reference ranges at the lab are based on "unprovoked" samples.
So, without even going beyond that to the controversy, it is inappropriate to use those reference ranges for provoked specimens.
Many levels wil read high b/c they have been pulled out of the tissues due to the pre-test chelation.

"Reference ranges are representative of a healthy population under non-challenge or non-provoked conditions."

In some non-evidence-based medical practices, however, assessment of metal poisoning is frequently based on non-validated post-challenge urine metal testing, which invites inappropriate comparison to normal urine reference ranges [4-7].
Just from a scientific view- it is wrong to compare results from a provoked specimen to a non provoked reference range! Not standard operating procedure in the lab at all.
