So...for the past week I've had some past nasal drip (which I can have sometimes). But this is accompanied by a mild sore throat. My uvula is red as is the back of my throat.
It is mild. On a scale of 1-20 it is maybe a 3. Usually better after I get up and shower. I can feel "sticky" mucous hanging out post nasal right above the uvula. I'm constantly snorting all day trying to clear it. My ears also feel stuffier than normal. This is all while I'm on biaxin, amantadine and I did a Flagyl pulse earlier this week.
I don't think it is viral or a cold. When I get a cold, this is always my first symptom...but it usually transitions to a runny nose and cough after a few days. This just seems to be "hanging" around.
Have other's had this? I know Bart can cause a sore throat. I really don't have a sore throat..it is more like an irritated upper soft palate / post nasal area. I don't have tonsils and no other lymph nodes seem swollen.
Any idea what this is? Could it be a yeast issue? I take Nystatin and probiotics daily along with GSE and Oil of O. My toungue has some white on it in the back, but it has been the same, more or less, for months and my LLMD said it was not an issue.
I switch to Levaquin and Doxy in 2 weeks.

Not sure bcb,
But my 8 year old has the same thing. I don't know if it is Bart related as we developed an ear/sinus thing 10 days ago and had to take Amoxicilin for 10 day, and go off Bart drugs.
He's somewhat better from the ear/sinus infection, but now the old nasal drip, cough and occasional sore throat in the AM is back.
It could also be changes in the season and allergies, or TBI flair up in the fall as others mention.
Maybe someone else can come along and help us.
Well wishes

My LLMD looked at my throat one time and told me it was red like I had Lyme. I don't think it was sore at the time.
I just started Mepron this week and have had a mild sore throat and sneezing but I don't really feel sick. I remember my daughter having a sore throat when she started Mepron, too. I was hoping mine was a herx.
If you just took Flagyl, maybe yours is, too.

I have no idea what infection is causing it but I have it as well. No matter how much tylenol, or anything else I take it still hurts...bad.
And I get the drip feeling, and also the phlegm in the throat thing...all the time. Almost constantly since Jan.

Babs can also cause a sore throat.

Lots of people on the east coast of the U.S. are suffering with this right now. It is evidently due to the hot, dry weather we have had--lots of pollen.
I had a 3 week long headache that drove me to the doc and I was told allergic rhinitis. He gave me Clarinex, Nasonex, and Singulair. In 2 days, the headache from hell was finally gone and my ears started popping open finally.
But, when I stopped the meds, it came back. I have that congestion in my throat that I try to clear and can't, and lots of pressure in the ears and sinus cavities.
This is my first experience with this, but I hear that many people in the workplace around here are going through the same thing and having to go to doctors for it.
So, I don't think it is a lyme thing.
I got rid of lyme and company over 5 years ago.
