I have been complaining forever (6 years) that my tongue is swelling, little by little. So the swelling existed already before I started the Biaxin, I have been on the drug since May 24 along with 4 Malarone pills a day. For the last few days, my tongue, the inside of my lips and cheeks has become really red and inflamed, painful when the toothpaste touches it. I wonder if this is due to my on going problem with the tongue swelling or if it could be a side-effect from the Biaxin or even Malarone? Has anyone experienced this?
Thank you,

My tongue felt weird but mine was more throat. Feeling of chokeing.

I am guessing it is hitting them as described by the pain. I ate soup for over 3 mths. Now it is gone.

i'm thinking you could be having an allergic reaction to the malarone. how long have you been taking it? i wouldn't take this too lightly because if your tongue, lips and cheeks are swollen it could travel to your throat which is very dangerous. call your LLMD right away. check out this link:

http://www.drugs.com/malarone.html

scroll 3/4 of the way down to side effects section. says swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat are serious side effects that require immediate medical attention.

If you find it is not the drugs but the nerves---

You might try some sublingual B12 to see if that soothes the nerves.
