You can do IM Magnesium shots but they do sting a bit. Or Liquid magnesium. [Smile] Be aware too much will give you diarrhea.

Topical...liquimins makes a MgCl that comes in a small blue glass bottle. It is not expensive.

We DO absorb things thru our skin.

2 droppersful = 400mg or approx. the RDA.

It may burn somewhat when you first apply it, but it goes away fairly fast.

Mg works with B6...take the sublingual form by Source Naturals.

B6 doesn't stay in our system long however and we don't store much of it...some, but not much.

The amt. of Mg lost at the outset of lyme looks to be roughly that stored in our skeletal muscles...a lot.

Mg binds to our ATP as Mg-ATP, but Bb's "toxin" looks to trigger ATP-> ADP + cAMP in the cells Bb is infecting.

If we can increase ATP IN those cells then any available Mg can bind (and does ahead of all other electrolytes) to the ATP.

While we normally use glucose to make ATP and glucose + oxygen...Bb is busy "robbing" the defense and other cells of their needed glucose.

In a jam, however, WE can use ketones (BHB) to enter the mitochondria's citric acid cycle to generate ATP.

That is the goal...figure out how to "rev up" our own defense cells 'cause normally they are a lot better than drugs to destroy pathogens.

NORMALLY.

The worse pathogens have become very good at using our reaction to them to invade.

Example: many viruses count on our histamine reaction to help them invade.

Almonds...Mg

Walnuts for other reasons. Omega 3s.

Nuts are good.

Think of nuts / "seeds" to make a whole 'nuther plant.

They are LOADED with nutrients.

Like pumpkin seeds, etc.

Look at nature. It is quite amazing when we cut open a fruit and see the number of seeds which potentially could make another entire fruit TREE.

Pomegranate.

I personally like Dr Healy's MgCl lotion. It's not too pricey, either. I haven't had my intracellular Mg levels checked since using it, and still do take some oral forms esp. when I feel the need, but that stuff soaks in really fast and is non-greasy.

You should check out Marnie's previous posts about combing SubQ B6 (and possibly others. i always take Vita D with it, for ex.) to increase max absorption.

Yes...the baths help, but the form of Mg is different.

Since Bb is triggering chloride channels anyway, it appears we need to make use of that fact and use

MgCl...in large amts. to compete with more "reactive" NaCl and/or CaCl.

Especially after other treatments to increase ATP so Mg can lock onto the increased ATP as Mg-ATP to help transfer phosphate groups.

Marnie or anyone,

I was just gonna post about Mag Chloride.

Does anyone really notice a difference when using the skin lotion kind?

No other kind of Mag seem to work with me. NONE Mag glycinate, citrate, malate, oxide never gave me diarhea even in high doses.

Wondering if the oil kind would help? How much do you put on your skin?

I have something called Derma Mag says....31%Mg Chloride. 8 sprays = 100mg elemental Mag. Seems like I would have to spray the whole bottle on to get what I need.

Thanks

Want my grandma's recipe for stringy chocolate sauce?

Though Mg supplements do seem to reduce chocolate craving.

Enough of that chocolate talk. [lick] [lick]

I went to the Derma Mag site and it said women over 30 need approx 340mg. So that's.... give me a minute......or two..... 25 sprays a day.

TS, I doubt that topical Mg would cause diarrhea b/c it's entering directly into your bloodstream via skin, rather than disrupting your digestive pathway.

I use Lifetime Liquid Magnesium. It is a combo of malate and citrate.

It is free of yeast, gluten, corn, soy, diary and egg.

Any pill form would upset my stomach whether I took it with food or not. This stuff I take before bed on a relatively empty stomach.

I get it at a good price from Vitacost.

Oh yes, please!!!!!

My favorite is organic dark chocolate with chili peppers. No one can convince me it's not a health food. And, yes, I do supplement mag.
