Diagnosed 7 days ago. I guess this is called herxing. It is horrible. The pain in my head and

neck. The loss of my well being. The utter exhaustion but I can't go to bed because I cant eat

for another 1/2 hour. I took my doxy an hour ago.

At what point do you really go to the ER? If you do they treat you horrible.

Dear God, I just want to be me again

UGH...sorry to hear this. Herxing is really rough!

Since you are new, I'm going to go ahead and move this to Medical Questions where you will get more information and replies.

PS.. Don't go to the ER unless you are having a life-threatening issue. AS you said, they'll just treat you horribly.

It will get better--hang in there.

Are you taking your doxy with food? Be sure that you do that--doxy is very harsh on the stomach. Believe me, I know from first hand experience.

Herxes can be so, so hard. These 3 things gave me some relief: a long, warm bath (nothing added to the water), drinking large amounts of almost warm water (it goes down easier), and high doses of Advil/Ibuprofen. I would sometimes lay in the bath for 2 hours or 3 hours on really bad days.

Hope this helps you some.

Thanks, I did try to take it on an empty stomach, OMG I ended up on the bathroom floor in a cold

sweat. Now I am eating two hours prior to taking it. I am really nervous all the time though. I also

have alot of this air hunger today. How long will this herxing last ?

My family takes doxy with a full meal. Yes, the material says you can take it on an empty stomach. My family gets really sick if they don't eat a full meal. Abx should also be taken with fat. I give my daughter turkey roll-ups along with a meal. You may want to try it with a meal, wait 2 hours, then take your probiotics.

We set the cell phone alarms. That way daughter can stay in bed, and not forget to take her next rounds of meds.

Good luck! I know that herxing can be so hard. You may also want to talk to your doctor about Alka Seltzer Gold or Benadryl. Drinking lemon water through a straw is also very helpful.

Hang in there, it gets better with time.

Those are the exact same symptoms I had at first, when herxing. They'll come & go as the bacteria dies off, but they will most likely reduce in intensity. Really, it won't always be this bad.

I haven't had a bad herx in weeks. You will make it! Take the epsom salt soak bath. It will help very very much.
