I would say Lyme. I have Interstitial Cystitis and the two TBD's I had were Lyme and babesia.

My LLMD said Lyme loves to camp out in the bladder...nice environment for them.

Make sure you don't have an infection that needs different abx to fix!!

could you tell me if you'd tried an antibiotic that relieved you from this cystitis?

I took a lot of Biaxin... maybe that was the one that helped so much? I also took Ceftin, zith, amoxy (not much), doxy (not much)...hmmm, what else?

Minocycline, clindamycin.....

Blood in the urine can be an indication of Babesia.

thank you lymetoo!!!!!!!!! I've been taking Biaxin the past few days and it seems to help me overall. Maybe this will be the one. Amoxy, doxy , and ceftin haven't done much for this problem for me.

I have IC too - probably pre lyme unless I have had lyme since 1988.... Nothing has helped yet but some have hurt - rifampin in particular was very hard on my bladder. Check out the IC websites for good ideas about what food to avoids and other meds to help with a cranky bladder. Hang in there.

Bartnonella causes bladder problems - symptoms of a UTI without testing positive for anything. When I was taking lyme abx it just got worse. It went away with bart treatment. When my bart flares, it comes back.
