Hi
I am sorry if this question has been asked before. For some reason the search is not working for me today.

My question is this..

I just started my protocol yesterday of Azithroycin and Flagyl (1000mg) every day (no pulsing).

I was just wondering when I might expect a herx. Also, what kind of herxes did you experience while on Flagyl?

Do you think this is too much for me to handle? Would you think that I should be pulsing the flagyl?

My now famous lyme doctor had me take flagyl every day for 60 days. It worked for me.

I took 250 mg of flagyl 3 times per day.

You can expect to herx by day 3 or 4 on this combo.

My doc had me eat lemons and drink lots of water to make the herx more mild. The lemons are a natural cleanser and water flushes you out. So, together, they will help get out the toxins that will be created by the meds.

I cut up the lemons and sqeezed them into the water. Doc said to eat 4 per day, but I never achieved that many.

Also, be sure to eat the anti-yeast (low carb) diet. No sugar, no flour, no fruit, no cereal, no bread, no rice, etc. You don't want to get yeast from the flagyl.

I completed my lyme treatment over 5 years ago and I am still symptom-free, enjoying my life. So, the treatment worked for me.

I ate meat and non-starchy vegetables (no potatoes, for example).

For breakfast, I ate quoina porridge. The recipe for this great tasting porridge is on the Body Ecology Diet website. Just type "quoina porridge" into Google.

It is made from quoina flakes. Quoina is considered a seed and not a grain, so you can eat it as a substitute for grains.

Make a big batch and put it into individual serving containers. Then, you have breakfast for 4 days in a row!

There is a good recipe for red peppers stuffed with quoina, spinach, and feta cheese on the internet. Just an example of how quoina can be used in ways we often use rice or pasta.

I drank only water with lemons squeezed into it.

In the cafeteria at work, I could always get tuna or chicken salad, meat sandwiches (I threw away the bread), whatever hot meat entre they were serving, salads, and any of the vegetables just so they weren't potatoes.

In fact, I eat this way now practically since my husband is diabetic. We are eating the South Beach Diet way. Reminds me a lot of the lyme diet.

You may herx on Day 1 with that much. Are you taking all of it in one pill? OUCH!

I ramped up, beginning with 1/4 of a 250mg pill. It hit me hard, believe it or not!

PS.. The worst part of flagyl was the depression it caused. UGH.

This is interesting how each individual seems to be on a different protocol. I'm currently up to my limit on Flagyl (I take the generic).

One 250mg three times daily for 3 days a week.
(1- 250mg / 3 x day). I haven't herxed at all. As a matter of fact, I've had no herx for weeks now.

ON the days I'm off Flagyl, I take the Doxy 200mg's twice daily. I expect to be on this for 2 more months. Only symptom I have now is elbow pain. I'm back to work & feeling great.
