So..I take Mag Tab-SR because a)It is the magnesium recommended by Dr. B and b)it is absorbed better than other brands (meaning you can take fewer pills) and has less "digestive" side effects.
Problem is, I believe it also stays in your system / GI track longer (12 hour release).
So..when taking with drugs like Levaquin or Doxy, you are supposed to take Mg at least 3 hours before or after those abx. I've been doing that. But is this good enough for Mag Tab-SR? Does the long digestive break down cause issues with these abx versus other types of Mg?

Good question. Personally-speaking, I switched to another type of Mg- one that has several different forms combined into one cap but no "timed release"- b/c of taking macrolides and when on Levaquin for that very reason.

I've been told as long as you take the Mag tabs about 2-3 hrs away from abx's you'll be fine.
Anybody know how Sustained Released/Timed Release works? The mechanics?

I like the Perque brand. Kinda pricey, but good in my book. I also like Dr Healy's MgCl oil/lotion to apply topically.
